Make changes not excuses. That's my motto this week. If you aren't exercising and you say you want to, then make changes to your schedule or your responsibilities.
- Ask someone to help you with your routine tasks (home care, family care, etc) so that you have more time to get out there and walk or enjoy yoga.
- Go to your next meeting 15 minutes early and walk around the block or building. Don't have the shoes for it? Keep a pair in the car for just such an event.
- Let go of one activity or commitment that is taking your time away from you.
If you aren't eating the things you say you want to, then make changes to what you have available. - Do you have your fruits and vegetables easy to grab and eat? While you're making dinner, make up a go bag for the next day. Six baby carrots and a small banana is two servings of fruits & veggies. What's a Serving?
- What foods are on your pantry shelf at eye level? Put your healthiest choices here.
- Make at least one if not two slow cooker meals this week. Usually makes plenty of left-overs for yet another meal.
If you're saying I should more often than you say I want to, then make changes to what you say. - Replace should and have to with can and want to or even will do.
- Say "I know it's a healthier choice, and maybe I'll make it next time."
- Don't say anything. Make your choice without regret or guilt.
I understand it takes effort to make these changes, but stop making excuses for what you do or don't do. Accept where you are and what you're willing to do today. Celebrate the small steps you take every day. What change will you make this week?

There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.
