It seems the harder I push the faster backward I go. I've been having a hard time maintaining my weight. In fact, I'm more than 10 pounds over my healthy weight goal. Contributing factors are the wonderful opportunities I've said yes to over the past year and my natural tendency to focus on work to the exclusion of living a more balanced life (i.e. work some, play some, move some, eat some). Instead of trying harder, this week, I'm looking at areas where I can lighten up.
I'm lightening my schedule by letting go of some responsibilities and taking a temporary break from others. I've opened up more time for me and my healthier choices. Now the trick will be keeping the time for play and not taking on more volunteer projects.
I'm also lightening up my attitude towards weight loss. As many of you know, I am a Weight Watchers leader in Hilo. Because I'm supposed to be "at goal" I kept focusing on losing weight for external reasons. I'm taking a temporary break from meetings so that it's no longer a burden of "I have to," once again it's a choice because "I want to."

Saturday, January 28, 10 - 4, in Hilo at Aunty Sally's -- my BNI (business network) group is hosting a Trade Show and I'll have a booth. Entry to the trade show is free, though donations are welcome. All donations will be distributed to three charities (Humane Society, Hospice of Hilo, and the Food Bank). There will be door prizes and huli huli chicken. Stay tuned for details.
