I need your help for a grant proposal

The Hawaii Island Beacon Community is requesting proposals for HEAL (Healthy Eating and Active Living) Grants.

I will be submitting a proposal to support and grow the reach of my Small Steps newsletter and I need your help.  I would like to include testimonials on how Small Steps has helped you in my grant proposal.  I also want to know if some ideas I have to provide podcast interviews and personal coaching is of any interest to you.

Would you please take some time to complete my survey?  Click on HEAL Grant Proposal Survey

If you are interested in writing a proposal for this grant and would like to see if we can partner and support each other, please let me know.  Email me at dhucks@dhucks.com.

This week I'm focusing on my Plan Bs.

It's raining here in Hilo and my Plan A for going to the gym and gardening isn't working out.  So my Plan B is to use my DVD workouts.  So far, so good.  I'm going to keep going with Plan B for awhile, at least as long as the rain keeps pouring.

Another Plan B that I'll be working on this week is the emergency food in my car.  I've been keeping some Kashi bars in my car, in case I'm out and about and I get hungry.  If I eat my emergency stash then I'm less likely to choose the nearest fast food burger or grab the candy bar at the check out line.  But I think it's time for a change.  I'll be looking for a new food to stash in my car for emergencies.  Maybe some almonds or soy nuts (pre-measured of course) or maybe a package of jerky?

What's your Plan B?
How'd it go?

Did you schedule in your choices last week?

Just an update on my adventure in evaluation.  Last Saturday, I participated in the Toastmasters' evaluation contest on Oahu.  Though I didn't place in the competition, looking back at where I started and how I did on Saturday -- huge growth and improvement.  So it was a resounding success!!  The Hilo Toastmasters is an amazing and supportive group and a great place to learn and polish your speaking skills.  If you would like to check out Hilo Toastmasters, we meet on Tuesdays at 12:10.  Just let me know and I'll send you details,  shawndra@dhucks.com.

I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.

I take these small steps with you each week because I also need to build and maintain the habits and behaviors that support me in my journey.  Thanks for joining me each week.  Have fun and enjoy your life!
