Small Steps

A journey of a thousand miles begins with
a single step.

Try This:

I am excited.  I've been committed to my exercise plan for a full week and even though life threw me some curves I was able to roll with it, change my plan and still get my exercise in.  To me that's actually a huge accomplishment since sometimes it's so easy to use 'the plans have changed' as an excuse to not exercise.  But I conquered all challenges this week :))).

On Friday, I had planned on doing cardio at the gym but forgot my shoes -- came home and did an exercise DVD instead.

On Sunday I had to go into Hilo and thought I'd hit the gym instead of sitting on the coach.

On Tuesday had plans for my first Zumba class but it was canceled -- did a workout on the elliptical machine instead.

On Wednesday, I had a client cancel and reschedule for today at the same time as my yoga class.  So I switched yoga to Wednesday and will do a cardio workout later today.

Here's why I was able to deal with the changes each day offered:

  • I had a Plan B for exercise at home.  I even had a choice, a DVD that I hadn't tried before, Weight Watchers Punch or my Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone DVD that I enjoy.
  • I had my exercise bag in the car which I had re-packed and re-checked after forgetting my shoes the day before.
  • I left my yoga mat in the car.
My plan for this next week -- make sure I have my bag packed for all options and make exercise my number one priority.  I know that being active helps me accomplish more throughout my day and I'm committed to doing it for another week.

What's your plan for being ready this week?
How'd it go?

What did you commit to last week?

Shawndra's AFTERFind us on FacebookFollow us on Twitter
I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.

I take these small steps with you each week because I also need to build and maintain the habits and behaviors that support me in my journey.  Thanks for joining me each week.  Have fun and enjoy your life!
