I've been reading a book on my iPhone from John Locke, How I Sold 1 Million eBooks in 5 Months.  In it he refers back to his days selling insurance and setting goals.  He didn't set his goals on how many policies he sold, rather he set his goal on what he could control -- the number of presentations he made.  That really hit home.  How many times do we set a goal of losing 2 pounds a week yet when we step on the scale all our hard work (tracking, cutting back on portions, exercise) seems to be for naught?

We can not control what the scale reads each week.  We can only control what we do before we step on the scale.  If we continue to focus on those habits, behaviors and thoughts that will help us get to and maintain a healthy weight, then the scale will eventually align with our efforts.  If it doesn't, we will still be healthier and stronger, and that is more important than a particular number.

I'll be leading the Friday & Saturday Weight Watchers® meetings this week.  Check out  a Weight Watchers® meeting in Hilo for free.  We open at 8:30 and the meetings start at 9 am.  29 Shipman St, #101, Hilo.  Behind Koehnens (entrance is in the alley).

I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.
