It is my intention to begin sending Small Steps mid-week so look for it on Thursdays.

Small Steps

A journey of a thousand miles begins with
a single step.

Try This:

Do you plan your meals for the week?

Meal Planning really does help in making those healthier choices.

Here's my current meal plan:

Sunday:         Stuffed Peppers

Monday:        Chalupas (slow cooker meal)

Tuesday:        Burritos

Wednesday:   Leftovers

Thursday:      Chicken & Herb Dumplings

Friday:           Pizza (Fridays are always pizza & a movie night)

Saturday:       haven't decided yet :)

As you can see it doesn't have to be a big production and it can focus on just the evening meal (though of course we plan dinners so we can have them for lunch the next day).

I usually get out a pad of paper after breakfast on Sunday to start the menu.  We plan after breakfast so that our stomachs don't control our choices.  Now, Saturdays would actually be better for planning, because a trip to the farmers market could get any fresh produce we needed.  But Sundays work best for us to do meal planning since we are all present to voice suggestions.  And we let the others know what's going on that week (who will be late or who will be available to start the meal).

Here's why menu planning works for me:

  1. I don't have to think of what to eat when I'm starving.
  2. Others can start or even cook the meal if I'm running late that day, because they know what's planned.
  3. I don't have to make the better choice today: it was already made days earlier and today's stresses don't affect it (at least not often).

Will you plan some meals this week?

How'd it go?

My Journey:
Shawndra's AFTERFind us on FacebookFollow us on Twitter
I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.

I take these small steps with you each week because I also need to build and maintain the habits and behaviors that support me in my journey.  Thanks for joining me each week.  Have fun and enjoy your life!

Just because we know what steps we could take, doesn't mean that we actually take them.  Sometimes we need extra support and encouragement to make those healthier changes happen.  I can help.

As your coach, I will be:

  • Your champion in achieving your goals
  • Your motivation when actions are called for
  • Your unconditional support when you take a hit
  • Your mentor in personal development
  • Your beacon during stormy times
  • Your wake-up call if you don't hear your own

and, most importantly...

  • Your partner in helping you have all of what matters most to you

Some more benefits of coaching...

These coaching sessions are not associated with Weight Watchers.  I am a Life & Business Coach and though Weight Watchers is a tool I use personally and I bring my passion for coaching and supporting others to my work with Weight Watchers, I do not bring Weight Watchers into any of my coaching sessions.  If Weight Watchers is your tool of choice then I will support you in using it.  If you use other tools then I will support you with those as well.
