Do you plan your meals for the week?
Meal Planning really does help in making those healthier choices. Here's my current meal plan: Sunday: Stuffed Peppers Monday: Chalupas (slow cooker meal) Tuesday: Burritos Wednesday: Leftovers Thursday: Chicken & Herb Dumplings Friday: Pizza (Fridays are always pizza & a movie night) Saturday: haven't decided yet :)
As you can see it doesn't have to be a big production and it can focus on just the evening meal (though of course we plan dinners so we can have them for lunch the next day). I usually get out a pad of paper after breakfast on Sunday to start the menu. We plan after breakfast so that our stomachs don't control our choices. Now, Saturdays would actually be better for planning, because a trip to the farmers market could get any fresh produce we needed. But Sundays work best for us to do meal planning since we are all present to voice suggestions. And we let the others know what's going on that week (who will be late or who will be available to start the meal). Here's why menu planning works for me: - I don't have to think of what to eat when I'm starving.
- Others can start or even cook the meal if I'm running late that day, because they know what's planned.
- I don't have to make the better choice today: it was already made days earlier and today's stresses don't affect it (at least not often).
