Health is not just the absence of illness.  The World Health Organization defines Health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

And now the term Positive Health is being used, studied and desired.  The focus is beginning to turn towards pyschological factors, life factors such as life satisfaction, positive feelings, social support and purpose in life.  So this week instead of focusing on what you can or can't eat, how many minutes you're active or not, try working on increasing your social support by making time for a friend; increase positive feelings by taking some self-care time and get a massage; or maybe you could grab your journal, a favorite beverage and spend some time thinking about what you can do to follow your life's purpose.

 ~~~ Where's Shawndra This Week? ~~~

     

I'll be leading the Friday & Saturday Weight Watchers® meeting this week.  Check out  a Weight Watchers® meeting in Hilo for free.  We open at 8:30 and the meeting start at 9 am.  29 Shipman St, #101, Hilo.  Behind Koehnens (entrance is in the alley).   I will be on the mainland next week so will not be leading any meetings.  Back on the 19th. 

 

Friday, August 5, 3-5 pm -- I'm presenting Organizing Zones at the first meeting of the East Hawaii Chapter of the Conscious Business Night (CBN).  At La Crème Catering Kitchen, 160 Kilauea Ave. in Hilo from 3-5. I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.
