Small Steps
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Portion Control: I've already learned to:
- measure and weigh my food
- track what I eat
- read the nutrition information label
- identify the proper serving size
- say no
- share a meal
- take home half of my order
- use smaller plates, bowls and utensils
- use measuring serving utensils
And yes, sometimes those habits and behaviors are easier to do than at other times. It's a journey, and I keep trying. But I'm still faced with the inner voice that says (or sometimes, screams) "that's not enough". So this week, instead of focusing on changing the behavior, I'm going to focus on modifying the thoughts. I'm going to let go of the words -- should, shouldn't, have to, can't, right & not -- and add the words -- okay, enough, abundance, awareness, maybe, if I still want it after... I'm going to change the words and I'm going to change my attitude about portion sizes and what is 'enough'. I have no illusions that at the end of this week that I will have miraculously changed my thinking. It may take months, maybe even years, and I may return to the "it's not enough" attitude at times, but that's okay, because I'll still be writing Small Steps and can always share this journey again.
What thoughts might you focus on this week?

Abundance is, in large part, an attitude.
