Aloha,
If one definition of insanity is expecting different results but continuing to do the same thing over and over again, I say make 2011 one of your more sane years. Do something different. Try something different. Be willing to change habits, thoughts and/or strategies that aren't working for you. Last April, I suggested Eight Ways to Clutter LESS Living and #2 is:
Be willing to change the habits that cause your clutter. This month, what is one habit that you are willing to change in order to enjoy Clutter LESS Living? Could you:
- put "it" back when you're finished?
- add 15 minutes to each appointment or meeting in order to 'send that email' or 'type up your notes' or 'file the paperwork'?
- establish a home for an item that you keep misplacing (your keys, your wallet, your mail) and ALWAYS put the item there?
- determine a maximum number of items to keep and let the rest go? ( How many medicine bottles, plastic bags, plastic tubs, or fill in your specific item here is really enough?)
Or do you have another habit in mind? Let me know.

- Establish a home. Establish a home for your mail so that you know where it goes when you bring it in and where to look for the bills when you're ready to pay them.
- Keep what supports you. Keep only items and mementos that have happy memories attached to them. Let the rest go.
- Backpack, purse or wallet. Go through your purse, wallet, backpack or bag regularly. You can use the time you spend waiting for an appointment to sort through your bag. Some items may need to be shredded or thrown away at home, but you can certainly sort and organize while you wait.
