Small Steps

A journey of a thousand miles begins with
a single step.

Try This:

Several weeks ago I was writing about making SMART and SMARTER goals --click here for a recap), and I came across an article from the New York Times on making new habits (see Check It Out below).  One section in particular jumped out at me.

"...Continuously stretching ourselves will even help us lose weight, according to one study. Researchers who asked folks to do something different every day - listen to a new radio station, for instance - found that they lost and kept off weight. No one is sure why, but scientists speculate that getting out of routines makes us more aware in general."
M. J. Ryan, This Year I Will...

So I'm going to do at least one new thing before lunch each day this week.  I'm not sure what I'll do differently yet, but each day I'll think of something new to try.

Will you do something different every day this week?
How'd it go?

Did you 'eat local' last week?

My Journey:
Shawndra's AFTER
I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.

I take these small steps with you each week because I also need to build and maintain the habits and behaviors that support me in my journey.  Thanks for joining me each week.  Have fun and enjoy your life!
