On June 19th I knew the following week was going to be a challenge and I made plans to not only survive it but actually thrive. I successfully maneuvered through the week and here is the second lesson I learned.
Lesson #2: (More of a reminder that...) when faced with a challenging week, follow my own advice and dhuck my responsibilities .
During a jam-packed week, not everything that you normally do needs to be done, while other things such as your exercise and eating healthy should be a priority (even if we normally drop that first). So here is how I dhuck my responsibilities:
- DUMP what isn't positively, absolutely necessary.
- DELEGATE to my support team (ask family & friends or pay for some additional help).
- DEFER it until afterward.
- DIMINISH it. I don't need to do everything to the same degree as usual.
- DO it, if you really want to do it or if all else fails.
The 4th step is what I used to get my exercise in that week. I knew that I wasn't going to fit in an hour of walking each day, but found that if I walked the dog for 15-20 minutes, got in some short (10 minute) walks here, there and throughout the day, whenever I could squeeze them in, I could get more activity in without feeling overwhelmed.
I came up with these 5 ways to dhuck my responsibilities to help my clients (and myself) with time management, but of course I still have a tendency to forget my own advice during crunch times.
What responsibility can you dhuck this week?
