Small Steps

A journey of a thousand miles begins with
a single step.

Try This:

The week ahead for me is one which, in the past, could have derailed my best intentions and sucked the energy & health right out of me.  I would have survived and spent the next couple of weeks recovering.  But this time I intend to thrive and continue to make those healthier choices throughout the week, so that at the end I am still energized,  healthy, happy and satisfied at a week well lived.

I'm looking and planning ahead.  I've identified the things that I can temporarily let go of or reschedule, and I've asked for help and understanding from my husband.  We will be planning our meals and many of them will probably be from a slow cooker.

I'm also looking at how I can get my steps in.  Some days I will be able to fit my usual walk in, but most days this week are going to require shorter walks thrown in before a meeting, at the airport, during lunch or breaks, and I'll definitely have to make sure I take stretch breaks when I'm stuck at the computer.

There will be many meals that I don't have any control over.  Actually, I have control over what I put in my mouth, so here are the things I'll be doing to help me:  Really good breakfasts with sufficient protein, taking my own snacks, leaving something behind (besides just the garnish), drinking plenty of water and when it comes to dessert...hmmm.   That is a more difficult one, but I am willing to promise to eat each bite with full awareness and enjoyment, not just shovel it in.

Will you look ahead this week and plan your choices?

P.S. -- for my walking buddies --
I won't be walking in the park this Saturday nor on the 26th.

How'd it go?

Were you able to be patient with your journey last week?

My Journey:
Shawndra's AFTER
I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.

I take these small steps with you each week because I also need to build and maintain the habits and behaviors that support me in my journey.  Thanks for joining me each week.  Have fun and enjoy your life!
