Small Steps

A journey of a thousand miles begins with
a single step.

Try This:

Patience.  I've been sitting here thinking about my topic this week.  Actually I've been wondering what challenge I would write about this week, since it seemed that I handled all the challenges that life threw at me really well.  When people and situations created stress, instead of resorting to food to help calm and comfort me, I actually was able to breathe, think about what I really wanted out of it all and deal with my feelings of fear, uncertainty and doubt in a better way.  There wasn't just one thing I did to make this a successful week, because I actually used all my healthier coping strategies to make it through.  There was meal planning, getting support from friends and family, getting out and moving, tracking what I ate,  choosing fewer sweets, taking the time to re-balance and re-energize my body, deep breaths, and asking myself what I really wanted from each situation.

And now I realize there was one thing that made all that possible this week.  Patience.  Patience in my own journey.  Patience in trying to change a habit or a behavior again and again and again and yet again.   Because my success this week had everything to do with the past 30 years of learning to change my  thoughts, beliefs, behaviors & habits and the patience I showed myself each time I tried again.

Will you be patient with your journey this week?
How'd it go?

Where you able to let go of one thing that no longer supports or motivates you?

My Journey:
Shawndra's AFTER
I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.

I take these small steps with you each week because I also need to build and maintain the habits and behaviors that support me in my journey.  Thanks for joining me each week.  Have fun and enjoy your life!
