If, like me, you have been spending the last several months trying to mentally muscle through making those healthy choices but feeling guilty and a failure because you just haven't been able to find the willpower to say no -- it may not be a lack of willpower. I finally gave up blaming poor choices on emotional eating, self sabotage, and lack of motivation; and I started to wonder if maybe, just maybe, it was physical. I stopped blaming me and began to focus on ways to get my energy back and get re-balanced. I started taking care of me with regular massages again, and I started acupuncture with the intention of re-balancing my energy. I am also currently working on clearing up a long-standing sinus problem and a few other minor health concerns with my doctor.
When I stopped blaming myself and my lack of willpower and started taking action to get my body back in balance and energized, I was able to immediately make better choices. I'm convinced that many of my choices in the past several months were actually attempts to get my energy back and heal my body. Remember, there is a positive intention behind every action even if it's not the best thing to do.
So if willpower is overrated and focusing on body/energy work has helped me this much, I can't wait to see how much easier it all is when I am back to 100% balanced energy. Why did I wait so long? I thought that taking such good care of me was too
expensive in these financially challenging times, but the cost of not
doing it has been too high. I am worth every penny I spend on taking care of me.
