I'm back to eating my emotions. I thought I had changed that habit. But I quit planning my meals and preparing designated snacks and so, over time, my occasional unplanned snacks turned back into reaching for food whenever there was stress, anger, uncertainty, overwhelm or boredom. My next step? Return to what I know works -- planning snacks into my day. I know that at 4 p.m. I need a snack that has some protein and good fats in it. So olives, low-fat spreadable cheese on flatbread and some fruit are the order of the day. I also need to have snacks ready and available throughout the day. So maybe I'll prep some sliced cucumber (or other vegetable) and salsa to dip, some tangerines, bananas or other fresh fruit, and some air-popped popcorn (or 94% fat free popcorn).
This is great, I'll become more aware of when I'm eating my emotions and I'll increase my fruit & veggie consumption at the same time.
Will you plan your snacks this week?
P. S. YES! I have talked myself into continuing my walks on Saturday mornings at Lili'uokalani Park (Hilo) at 8 am. I decided I wanted to keep moving, so come join us on Saturdays at 8 am and Wednesdays at 7 am, and take a few small steps. |
