In December, I said I was going to walk the Great Aloha Run and I shared that with everyone. Now, due to financial considerations, I've decided that I won't be going to Honolulu for the run. I felt that I was quitting, but then realized that I have already fulfilled my intentions whether I walk in that race or not.
My intention in doing the Great Aloha Run was to get moving, stay moving and challenge myself. I've succeeded! Thanks to those walkers who joined me on Wednesdays and Saturdays, I've kept walking (even when I just wanted to sit and drink my morning coffee). And I was walking further and a little bit faster each week. So I've already won, since I'm moving more than I was in November.
Along that line, I'd like to suggest something: Just because you didn't lose that 2 pounds this week or run that race last month, you didn't actually fail. If you got out of your chair and moved more or ate a few extra vegetables with dinner, you won! The point is developing better better intentions, smarter habits and learning to make healthier choices. You took a few small steps, and isn't that what we want to accomplish? Keep going!
How can you fulfill your intentions this week?
P. S. I am committing to continue walking on Wednesday mornings even after February 15th. So, if you would like to join us, we will be at Lili'uokalani Park (Hilo) at 7 am each Wednesday morning. Saturdays? Hmmm... Still trying to talk myself into that so I'll let you know. |

My next goal may be the Lacamas Lake (WA) half-marathon in July
