Small Steps

A journey of a thousand miles begins with
a single step.

Try This:

I'm trying out two new possible habits this week.

The first is intended to get me moving throughout the day instead of sitting glued to my computer while my brain turns to mush.  It's also intended to keep me focused and energized.  I've set a timer for 30 minutes and when it goes off, I get up and walk around the house, the office or take a quick walk outside.  It doesn't take long.  Maybe 1-2 minutes and 100 steps each time, but it's been fun and easy.  I always return to my work with renewed energy.  You could walk a flight of stairs or up & down the hallway or even march in place for 100 steps.

The second thing I'm trying is a walking meeting.  Instead of sitting at a table discussing business, talk as you walk.  I've been thinking about it for months now and I just completed my first one.  Of course, not all meetings would fit well with this format and it will take me some time to retrain my habitual response to meeting inside and sitting down.

How often can you take a walking break this week?
How'd it go?

What foods did you measure last week?

My Journey:
Shawndra's AFTER
I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.

I take these small steps with you each week because I also need to build and maintain the habits and behaviors that support me in my journey.  Thanks for joining me each week.  Have fun and enjoy your life!
