Research has shown that 90% of a child's brain development happens before age five - making the early years a critical learning period.

Advocacy

FPI LogoAs the New York State Legislature debated the Governor's proposed budget, the WNY Women's Fund sent an urgent message requesting that they hold women and girls in highest priority.  We asked that they would have the courage to see that the proposed cuts are part of a continuation of policies that have increased the disparity between those who "have" and those who "have not". The message noted that those who "have not" are disproportionately represented by women - especially by female single heads of households.

NYS Women's Foundation LogoWe pointed out that support of these needs will lead to an improved quality of life for women and their families in poverty in WNY.  Aided by a report prepared by the Fiscal Policy Institute and released by the New York Women's Foundation, the message relayed that by supporting the programs that address these needs will lead to an improved quality of life for our entire community.
