2010 Youth Maritime Training Association Maritime Educational Scholarship The YMTA is an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting students who wish to pursue careers in the maritime industry including the marine sciences.
The scholarships may be used by students pursuing maritime training and education in community colleges, technical and vocational programs, colleges, universities, maritime academies or other educational institutions. Scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of one $5,000, one $3,000, and two $1,000 in the Spring of 2010. In addition, Pacific Maritime Magazine will award a $500 scholarship to one of the finalists planning to pursue a seagoing maritime career.

Agriculture Education Update Conference To all Agriculture Education teachers: this conference is a must for Teachers teaching courses under the Agriculture Education pathway in Washington.

"Green, Greener, Greenest" Lecture on Testing Protocols The Construction Center of Excellence at Renton Technical College, will host a lecture on Laboratory Testing and the Challenges of Real World Application.

Sustainability Grant Award Program State Farm has established the Innovation in Sustainability Grant Award Program to stimulate student awareness and interest in their environment and provide them with an understanding as well as skills and a voice to make a significant impact in their community. SkillsUSA chapters may apply for a State Farm grant of $10,000 to fund a green or sustainable program or project that uses innovation to insure today's needs are met without compromising future generations. Each $10,000 grant will designate $7,500 for project expenses and $2,500 in travel expenses to send one advisor and two students to the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in June 2010. The projects can be anything that is "green" or a sustainable project that uses innovation to insure that today's needs are met without compromising future generations. Grant applications must be submitted by November 30, 2009. Projects must be completed by June 1, 2010.

Project Lead the Way Conference Where: Seattle University, Student Center - Room 160 When: December 9, 2009, 9am-3pm Who Should Attend: The conference is open to all middle and high school counselors, teachers and administrators. You do not need to be a member of PLTW to attend. Preregistration is required, lunch is included, and clock hours are available. No charge to attend.

Imagine Tomorrow Washington State University's Imagine Tomorrow problem-solving competition, is now open for registration. More than $100,000 in cash will be awarded to high school students and their schools.
