FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC!

WASHINGTON, DC - On Sunday, June 27, the streets of Minnesota Avenue, NE and in particular the East River Shopping Center will be transformed into an "edutainment" village as ERFSC, Ophelia Egypt Program Center - Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC, Inc. and their partners stage the 6th Annual D2D COMMUNITY "It's A Family Affair."

Each year, the Summit brings together over 500 youths and families along with community leaders for a day of thought-provoking dialogue, information exchange, inspiration and entertainment.  This year's event is extremely important and significant to the Washington DC community, as one of the main goals of the event is to encourage DC residents to get tested and know their HIV/AIDS status.  The event will take place on National HIV Testing Day and according to one of the partners, Irwin Royster of Planned Parenthood, "June 27 is the day that we hope to emphasize to our residents the importance of getting tested.  Knowing your status is crucial."  Mr. Royster will also be demonstrating the use of the new female condom as part of the day's program and there will be other health screenings and various community resources available to the public.

Popular gospel recording artiste, Willie Blount will headline the event which is taking place on a Sunday as opposed to on Saturdays in previous years.  Many local acts including The Amazing Grace Gospel Choir,  Robin Jannell, Main Girl and Da Originalz (formerly of Beat Ya Kings) will also share the stage.  This year's event is FREE and for the entire family with activities for children and seniors, free food, and much more.

The 6th Annual D2D COMMUNITY DAY will take place from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at East River Shopping Center, located at 3900 Minnesota Avenue, NE, Washington DC.
