Greetings! You'll probably notice a few extra pics of Kate in today's newsletter and may be wondering why. Allow me to explain...You see a year ago tomorrow this incredibly beautiful little girl was born and I just thought I'd give you a progression of pictures of her 1st year with us.... enjoy! If you need a Kleenex to wipe the tears of joy from your eyes, there's a box in the hall closet right above the shelf with the candles and napkins that you never use

A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!
Thanks to everyone who turned out to welcome Deborah and Elise from Barnard Griffin Winery last Tuesday evening. The wines were a big hit, especially the Fume Blanc and the Port of Syrah, the latter of which will be here tomorrow. I hope to do several more tastings with some of the producers I met in Washington in the very near future. In the mean time, I'll continue to bring in a variety of different wines for everyone to try. Last weeks Shining Hill from Col Solare was a huge hit and sold out almost immediatly, today I hope to get a few cases of the Northstar Cellars Merlot, which is widely conseidered to be one of the best in the country. It usually retails for between $50 and $60, we'll have it for $28- stop by and have a sample. We should also be receiving several six packs of the Long Shadows' Chester-Kidder Red Blend from....you guessed it, Washington St........PARDON THE INTERUPTION, we will return you to the regularly scheduled Newsletter in just a moment, but we have special message from the other wines in the store........"Let us begin by thanking all of you for your support in the past, all of us here- the French included, are deeply indebted to you for it! We are concerned about the future though, it seems that since Bill went on his little "Road Trip", that all he can talk about is Washington wines this and Washington wines that, and quite frankly we're getting a little tired of it! He's a pair of Birkenstocks, a cup of Starbuck's, and a Pearl Jam album away from becoming a complete sell out. Have we no more standing in The Elusive Grape? Can we no longer open up beautifully and be the perfect compliment to a wonderful meal? Are we supposed to sit idly by while he continues to ignore us? I think not my friends, I think not! So from here on out, every time he mentions one of his Pacific Northwest buddies- and that includes you too Oregon!- We're going to mention two from the rest of the wine making world, we will not be silenced!" We now return you to this weeks newsletter already in progress............."and it was because of those floods that the soil in Washington and Oregon is so perfect for growing world class grapes!" More on that later, but for now allow me to redirect your attention to the next box below and another picture of Kate.

BOO!
Sorry to scare you, just getting warmed up for Halloween Night, which is of course, this Saturday. The annual Monsters on Mainstreet bash will start around dark thirty, wherein hundreds of little scary people will be walking around town with pillow cases demanding a pay out of sweet goodies. When the mass extortion is over, and those little villains have returned home to bounce off their respective walls in a sugar induced frenzy, we will be here to entertain you. Come dressed as you are or in costume, I know that several restaurants- Cress and Norville Barnes included, are featuring specially themed menu's for the evening, so please enjoy a great dinner, then join us for a glass or two afterward, we'll have snacks available all evening. Now if you'd be so kind as to join me below for another picture and some more rambling.

GOBBLE, GOBBLE, HO! HO! HO!
Don't get mad at me for mentioning it, but the holiday season is just about upon us, and we've got some planning to do. I'm not trying to pressure you, but we do need to start talking about what wines you want to serve at Thanksgiving. Pinot Noir? Gewurtztraminer? Beaujolais? All can be very good, it just depends on what you like best. So to help you decide, we're going to start offering samples of several different wines each week, just stop by and have a try. Once we get bird day out of the way, the fat man in red is right behind, and you definitely want to be prepared for his arrival! I'm not going to get into a bunch of details yet, but I do want to say two little words to you before we move on...you know just a little something to keep in the back of your mind....WINE BASKETS! Now, if you'll just allow your eyes to drift downward........

TRIVIA THURSDAY.....ETC.
This face is why I have been spending so much time at home lately.....just look at her! So tomorrow night is the 25th installment of Trivia Thursdays, and for the first time, in addition to our regular weekly Fantastic Prizes, we will be awarding the coveted Ridgeway Chalice to the team with the highest accumulated score for the month! (Can you say hello Sportscenter top 10) Last week pretty much cemented it for the Rozzers, (although I do have to say that Pam did a great job going it alone for the Brain Trust), because not a single person from the second place Gators, was here to compete. So, if you are daring enough, and don't take things too seriously, and happen to have a little useless info flowing around betwwen the ears, than stop by and have a little fun. The prizes are something to observe. Thank you for your time, and all of your support! Before leaving, I highly recommend just staring at the picture to the right for no less than five minutes........I call it Katherapy.
