BE AFRAID, BE VERY......
I need to give you fair warning, there is a very good chance
that you will be receiving several emails from me next week, so please take the
proper precautions. You are in no way
obligated to actually read any of my
correspondence- in fact four out of five doctors recommend you don't. I will be heading out to Washington State
to visit some of their very fine wineries and thought I would relay my
experiences to you through this newfangled thing called the internet. What are the kids calling it these days? A Blog?
Yeah, I think that's it. So I'll
be writing a blog- Oh if my English
teachers could see me now! Anyway, whenever possible I will be including
pictures and tasting notes, we'll see how capable I am after a long day at work......While I'm away "working", Suzy
will be running the show, so please stop by and have a glass or two with her,
we certainly don't want her getting lonely.
Before we get started, I was remiss in the last newsletter
when I didn't thank everyone that participated in the Cress/Grape Cook-off, in
most cases it was a team effort. Dianne
also helped prepare the winning Bison dish with Beth, Watt was a faithful
servant to his wife Shirley, Carmen was the true inspiration behind Ken's dish,
and Geoff-the Aussie Bastahd, was
there for his wife Terri. Thank you all
again, it was great and I'm looking forward to the next competition.

A COUPLE OF VERY NICE WINES.......
We were able to get some more of the 2006 Ridge Paso Robles Zinfandel in, and are blowing it out at $25
a bottle, or $240 a case. It is 100%
Zinfandel from the Benito Dusi Ranch,
which is one of the finest in all of California,
we only have three cases right now, and I'm not sure if we will be able to get
any more, let me know if you are interested.
This Saturday is the first one of the month, therefore it is Wine Club! Last month we had a very nice blend from Australia, this month we have another fine wine
from California. Members will be receiving two half bottles of
the 2004 Rutherford Hill Merlot which retails for $12 a half, or $22 a full
bottle. A fantastic bargain! If you are not a member, and would like to
enjoy fine wines like the one I just mentioned, then by all means join us! It's really quite easy, and the wines are
quite good. We will have samples available
all day Saturday and will be cooking up some snacks around 2:00, I hope you are
able to stop by.

THE MUSEUM, COOKING, & TRIVIA
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, The Museum of Florida
Art, is holding a fundraiser, A Taste of Florida, on October 24th
for which they have asked Chris Howe
and I to offer a catered dinner to be auctioned off. Well, we've come up with a menu, one if were
to be properly prepared, would be quite nice. We have also selected some very nice wines to
go with each course. Let me repeat that,
very nice wines. Our goal will first be, to not burn
anything down, and second, to get whomever it is that we wind up cooking for,
sufficiently sated with fine wines, so as to hide any imperfections that may
occur in the final presentation of our dishes.
If you are in need of a good laugh, and would like us to come to your
home and entertain you and five others, than please bid on our dinner. Go to www.museumoffloridaart.org/auction to
see what we are offering, bids open today.
Tonight we will be holding our weekly Trivia competition,
with a few added incentives. Those fine
people from the Museum
of Florida Art will be
here with special prizes for the winning team, these are of course in addition
to the already special prizes that are usually awarded. There will be two bonus rounds in which teams
will be able to win tickets to the Taste of Florida event on Oct. 24th,and
I will be throwing in a nice bottle of wine to boot. We are also going to start keeping a monthly
tally on team scores tonight, which means more prizes! Last weeks bonus round winners, The Gators,
rightfully protested the answer to one of the questions, but since they won, the
judge didn't think it necessary to take any action........I know this is an older picture of Kate, but really, don't it just make you smile.

COMING UP NEXT....
Next Friday is the Deland High School Homecoming Parade which
is always a very fine time. We will be
open as usual and will have wine and beer at the ready, anyone under 21 need
not apply. The Rotary Club of Downtown
DeLand, of which I am a member, will be holding it's annual Bud Man golf
tournament at Victoria Hills on October 24th.(Yes the same Oct. 24th,
as the Taste of Florida, but it's in the morning and you'll have plenty of time
to get cleaned up before heading back out).
Foursomes and hole sponsorships are still available, the cost to play is
only $75 which includes lunch and prizes.
Register on line at www.golfinvite.com/delandrotary. That's all I have for today, thank you for
your support, I will be checking in next week from the fine State of Washington.

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given
Friday or Saturday night
more kisses begin with wine than Kay.
