Here is another edition of the Elusive Grape Newsletter, I
apologize in advance for taking up your valuable time. If your time is not, in fact, valuable, well
then, a nice walk outside might be more rewarding........

THE WEBSITE CAN BE VERY INFORMATIVE.....
If you haven't already done so, please go to our website, www.ElusiveGrape.com and look at our
Calendar page for updated list of events.
You will notice immediately that every Thursday is trivia night, which
offers all competitors a chance to win truly unique prizes, things you would
not generally buy for yourself, but may occasionally spot at a neighborhood
yard sale. If you happen to arrive after
one in the afternoon when all of the good stuff is already gone, that is. Teams are limited to six persons and the use
of electronic devices is strongly discouraged, by that I mean, anyone caught
doing so will be chastised in a most egregious manner. Join a team when you get here or bring one
with you, the first game starts at 7:00.
As an added bonus, starting October 1st we will keep a
running tally of each teams score, and at the end of the each month, the team
with the highest amount of correct answers will win an additionally interesting
prize. Oh yeah, here's another
obligatory picture of Kate, we call this one the Roll Tide Touchdown Dance.

THE HIGHEST BIDDER GETS WHAT!?
Mr. Howe and I will be putting ourselves on the auction
block and offering our- what can only be described as humorous, collective
culinary abilities, to the highest bidder.
We will be availing ourselves to open criticism in order to help raise
funds for the Museum of Florida Art at the First Annual A Taste of Florida. I'm assuming we will be filling the role
of A Taste of Florida- If you break down
on Alligator Alley and are forced to eat whatever the Turkey buzzards are
unable to digest. We will be
offering our services to cook a meal for six with wines to match....At the very least we can drink! Thankfully they will also be auctioning
off dinners prepared by people who actually know what they're doing, and much,
much, more! The event will be held at
the Armory on October 24th , tickets are available here at the
Grape.

SPEAKING OF COOKING........
The first Grape/Cress Restaurant Cook-off is Fini, and we
have a winner.....and that person is.......the person who won by preparing a dish
that was ultimately considered by three impartial- if not susceptible to bribes- judges, to be the best compliment to
the Efeste (pronounced EF-ess-tee) Caidleigh (pronounced- I am not making this
up- Kay-lee) Syrah, was.....before we announce the winner, let me tell you a
little about the competition. There were
six highly-trained, non-professional cooks who were each given a bottle of the
aforementioned wine and asked to deliver a meal that best accentuated and
complimented it. The day of reckoning
was this past Saturday, the judges were hungry, thirsty and each had a glint of
craziness in their eyes- to the casual observer it may have looked like a tear
waiting to be shed, but it wasn't my friends, no, it wasn't. Have you ever seen anyone so anxious for
something that they are scarcely aware of their surroundings? Think of the slightly overweight kid who's
next in line to see Santa, he knows that in just a few moments, he will be
face-to-face with the only person on earth that can make all of his dreams come
true- mouth slightly ajar, eye's darting side-to-side, a bit of spittle forming
at the base of his chin- ironically, if you fast forward twenty years this same
scenario, sans Santa, can often be played out while waiting in line to be
served a nice glass of wine at your local wine.......Sorry, I digress.....Anyway, as
I was saying, the judges were anxious to taste the wonderful meals that had
been prepared. Those cooking were: Mr. Ridgeway- Bison Stew with root
vegetables, served over a moist Jalapeno corn bread; Mr. Tate- Peruvian
inspired tenderloin of beef, served over jasmine rice; Mrs. Byrnes (aka Mrs.
Aussie Bastahd)- Marinated Swordfish topped with Bing cherries; Ms. Coleman-
Grilled tenderloin of Bison, served with a blueberry-red wine reduction; Mrs.
Ramsey- Grilled Lamb Chops, served over a puree of root vegetables; and
finally, Mr. Goldberg- Roasted Duck, served over a Peruvian rice. During the tasting our judges, Mr. Broughton,
Danielle, and Owner/Chef of Cress Restaurant, Hari, enjoyed copious amounts of
the syrah. Which dish did they say
outshone the others, who's creation will be featured at Cress Restaurant? They said the decision was very difficult,
but ultimately chose...... Ms. Coleman's Bison.
We are now planning the next competition, which will feature an Alsatian
rock star, the Domaine Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer, and all dish's will be
vegetarian- if you are interested in competing we still have one spot
available, contact me directly.
