SOUTH OF THE BORDER- FINE FOOD AND FINE.....WINE?
A TASTING AND DINNER
The time has arrived my friends! Tonight, for the very first time, we at the Elusive Grape, in partnership with Penacho's Mexican Grill, will be pouring samples of several wines from South of the Border, and we're not talking Pedro's place in South Carolina. Nope, this is true Mexican libation, made from grapes, not cactii. We'll have Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet, and Zinfandel, the red kind, and from 5:00 to 5:45, you can stop by and try them all. Then, if you are so inclined, you can go directly acroos the street where Manny and Nora, at Penacho's, will be preparing a five course authentic Mexican dinner to compliment each of the wines. The menu will feature a Sope de Chorizo, which I have a sneaking suspicion is Chorizo soup, Yucan-style Crab Cevich taco's and a Fish-stuffed Poblano, Grilled Cactus salad, a Sirloin en Chile de Arbol, and finishing off the evening, Manny's Siganature Flan and Mexican coffee. The tasting here at the Grape is free of charge, the dinner is only $39.99 per person. So blow off whatever you may of thought you had to do this evening, this is a unique opportunity, and who knows, they may just be some very fine wines, or at the very least, interesting ones.

CRASH COURSE- DELAYED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
Terry Jourghansan sent over an e-mail yesterday informing us that his debut on ABC's reality show, Crash Course, has been delayed by one week, possibly two. As Mr. Jergusan put it, "It seems that one of the teams on a subsequent shooting, made a bigger *#& out of themselves than I did, and ABC decided it would be better TV, to show them on the premier than a 67 year old $%#* cussing and swearing at his daughter!" So there you have it, personally I would like nothing more than to see a $&%@ old $* like Terry, cussing like a *@ trucker on natioinal TV, but that's probably just me. As soon as we have a definitive date and time that the Jergusons' episode will be aired, I'll pass it along, for as I mentioned before, we will be having a viewing party here at the Grape.

TRIVIA- IT'S A THURSDAY THING!
For those of you keeping tabs, there have been many a battle over the past several weeks, with many a different champion, and this past Thursday evening was no exception. For the main competition, or first four rounds as it were, the Rozzers (or Aussie Bastuhds, as they are better known), featuring Mr. Ridgeway, Geoff and Terri, Tom the birthday boy, and British Dave-the Journyman French guy from Spain, were locked into a savage fight with Charles in Charge, which featured the Stetson Flower Power and the Ferrell's Jewelry Crew. They were tied at 32 1/2 each when the C in C's snatched a victory after correctly identifying songs by Air Supply, Jimmy Cliff, and the clincher- The Band. The following bonus rounds were sponsored by Ferrell's and featured twenty questions about Jewelry. The Six Feet Unders, or Grave Diggers, as they were constantly being called, featuring Cheryl and Danielle, Paul and Kenda, and Mr. Jancha, rose like a Phoenix from the Ashes and utterly destroyed the competition to claim a very nice prize that had been donated by Jeremy and Yvette. Another epic evening of useless information at The Grape! If you would like to participate and possibly win what can only be described as interesting prizes, then please join us on Thursday evenings, come by yourself and join a team, or bring one with you, the games begin around 7:00.

WENDELL GETS HIS OWN SECTION AT THE GRAPE!
AND OTHER HAPPENINGS... In homage to a man that will never be described as a frivolous spender, to someone who has no qualms about switching price tags on a pair of underwear to get the ones he wants for a dollar cheaper, we have constructed an entirely new area in the store. In the front of the Grape, there is now a section featuring over forty-five very good wines, all of which are $15 or less. In addition, we are still having a store wide sale on virtually all of our wines, new vintages are being released and we need to make room for them. Each day we will have several wines available to sample, so stop by and see if there are any you enjoy. Many of our distributors are also trying to make room for new vintages and thus, are offering some very good deals. It is both impossible and impractical for me to take advantage of everything they offer, so I have decided to start something a little new here at the Grape. If you are interested in receiving bulletins on closeout wines, then please contact me. Whenever I receive an offer, I'll send out a quick no-frills note to all of those interested, with all pertinent details attached (i.e cost, minimum order, time constraints etc.) and if there is anything you'd like, you can contact me directly. Most of these deals do require a case, or at minimum six bottle purchase. Friday evening we will be featuring a duet by Charles Riley and Barb Felker, ear plugs will be available and of course recommended. Saturday, thanks to Chuck, we will be cooking up some fresh Mahi out back and some more Angus burgers, bring a dish and join in if you'd like, there really is no better way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon, unless of course you hva a beautiful daughter named Kate...........
