"And what is so rare as a day in June? For then if ever come perfect days."--James Russell Lowell
Sweet sunshine on downtown Port Townsend! My, my, those perfect days have been few and far between so far this year, so we'll hope June is full of them! Summer House is packed to the rafters with goodies for summer and ready to help you make the most of the season. |

ONLINE STORE
Anyone who has been in the shop should visit the online store at ILoveSummerHouse.com to get a taste of what goes on in the bricks-and-mortar store. The website is fun to explore, and you should be sure to follow the link to our blog, I Love Summer House.blog.com. The "Window Display" link lets you see a gallery of window displays from past months. You can also link to our Facebook page and Twitter account.
Rather than compete with Amazon, the aim is to create online something of the experience of being in the store. Customers often say they find products in the shop they have never seen anywhere else, and that's a great endorsement of Summer House Design. Focusing on the unusual has kept the doors open, and the cheer flowing for the past eight years.

LOCAL, PLEASE
Part of that focus is on the locally made products we carry. This month we are featuring the Naked Pottery line made by Phoebe and Darby Huffman of Port Townsend. Their pottery is made from a beautiful warm red clay and fired at a high temperature so that it is strong and watertight without needing any glaze. Holding one of their cups in your hand gives you a sense of the potter's hands on the turning clay, and the unglazed surface feels friendly and actually makes beverages taste better!
Better yet, Phoebe is carving Darby's design of a sun over a house into each of the pieces we carry, exclusively for Summer House. We currently carry coffee carafes and filter cones to fit, as well as tall tumblers suitable for hot or cold drinks.

NAKED POTTERY & SUNRISE COFFEE
Other local products include: Delicious locally roasted Sunrise Coffee; hats and Scarf+Collar=Scollar neckwear made from vintage fabric and buttons from Gwen Evans; colorful Four-Spot Tumblers from glassblower Glenn Lyons; rings, pendants, and belt buckles with bird and nature images from Wren Farris; wonderful curlicue wire earrings from Barrie D'Angelo; and lots more...
