PAC Artist Registry Members Featured on Arts Calendaring Announcement
PAC has teamed up with the San Mateo County/Silicon Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau to improve arts and event calendar listings for San Mateo County. Announced this month via a postcard mailing, the move is expected to increase visibility and attendance for arts and cultural events in the county.
Featured on the postcard is the vibrant work of PAC Artist Registry Members (from left to right) Brian Harvey, Doug Brown, Katherine Phelps, Derek Morgan, Werner Glinka and Lee Toldi!
Artists and arts organizations are invited to send arts and cultural events directly to SMCCVB Media Manager, Stephanie Fermin for posting on SMCCVB's "See What's Happening" calendar. The calendar will now be available on-line on both the SMCCVB and PAC websites. Please download submission form for details. Highlighted arts events will continue to be included in PAC's monthly arts newsletter. Send information to info@peninsulaartscouncil.org.

Thank you to Fibre Arts Design in Palo Alto
Fibre Arts Design generously donated fabric, bookmaking supplies, and wool to PAC and we are pleased to share those resources: Canada College Fashion Design & Merchandising Dept., Community School of Music and Arts, Midpeninsula Community Media Center, Little House and three coastal fiber artists. We look forward to seeing their new creations in the future!

Currently Featured at Little House Galleries, Menlo Park

Michael Charlow is a digital artist working on the Peninsula. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Allied Arts and Architecture. His credits include artwork for the album "Drowning in Neon" by the group Agent 126, and his self-published children's book Akazukin, a Japanese version of Little Red Riding Hood.
While not completely identical to the Brothers Grimm version, you will no doubt recognize the classic tale. Michael translated and adapted the story for Japanese audiences with a contemporary graphic interpretation in the style of "manga". Manga is the Japanese term for "comics" and in Japan these manga are taken more seriously than illustrated novels are in the United States. They typically span more genres, media, and are often aimed at specific genders and age groups. See Michael's artwork

Peninsula Museum of Art Moves to Burlingame
New Studio Complex for Artists
A new complex of working studios for visual artists is being developed in Burlingame by the Peninsula Museum of Art to be completed by October. The studio complex, a department of the Museum titled the "Peninsula Art Institute," will accommodate both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artists, many of whom will teach classes. The Institute will include a gallery and access to the Museum's art reference library (over 1,200 books).
