ARTS RENDEZVOUS
Hosted by the Trustees, Executive Director Margot H. Knight, and staff of the Djerassi Resident Artists Program the fifth annual ARTS RENDEZVOUS gathered arts professionals, arts funders, and arts organizations to discuss current funding trends in arts and culture. The conversation was facilitated by Craig Watson, Director of the California Arts Council, the official state arts agency, the state with the largest number of artists and creative-industry workers in the nation spoke about the changes he is trying to wage in the arts in California. Randy Cohen, Vice President of Research and Policy at Americans for the Arts, the nation's advocacy organization for the arts, spoke about the state of the arts nationwide. He reported that funding is down yet jobs in the arts are up. He spoke about the need to prepare our students to be innovative and creative thinkers.

2012 Board Retreat Each year PAC embarks on an annual retreat to focus on strategic planning for the year. Thank you to Cameron Palmer, of the Half Moon Bay Beautification Committee, the 2011 Diamond Award recipient for Government Support. Cameron owns Cameron's Pub in Half Moon Bay and generously donated his meeting room space for a lively and productive planning meeting on Saturday, April 14th. Thanks Cameron!

2012 Congressional Art Competition Congratulations to Kelley Chao of Mills High School for her 1st place prize in the 2012 Congressional Arts Awards! Her oil painting, entitled, "Hope", wins her a trip to Washington, DC for an honorary reception where Members of Congress will recognize finalists from all 50 states. Kelley's artwork will hang on display for one year in the main corridor between the U.S. Capitol and House Office Buildings! Sponsored by Congresswoman Jackie Speier.

PAC Welcomes New Board Members Joan Currie of Bay Fashion Magazine, Randy Groover of Seascape Financial, and Lisa Forte, Capezio Dance Theatre Shops, join Peninsula Arts Council's Board of Directors this May. Joan is forging a new arts collaboration with Canada College's Fashion Design Department. Lisa, the 2010 Diamond Award recipient for Local Business Support, joins the board to lead the 2012 Diamond Award events committee. Randy brings important financial and strategic planning talent to lead our strategic planning process to focus our 20-year-strong non-profit organization for the future.

Little House - Peninsula's Best Kept Arts Secret
Did you know that Little House, A.K.A. the Roslyn G. Morris Activity Center in Menlo Park offers affordable classes in ceramics, lapidary, woodworking and digital photography taught by outstanding professionals.
Or that husband and wife team, Jay and Jamie Watson, recent PAC Workshop presenters on "Social Media for Artists" are showing their photography and surfing artwork in the Little House galleries.
