PAC supporters will be happy to know that after a
seven month hiatus, the Little Fox of Redwood City will be reopening in
association with the Police Activities
League (PAL) Blues Festival July 23-24. It is anticipated that new owners, Eric and Lori Lochtefeld,
will open
the larger FOX theatre in September. For more on the interview with George and

Peninsula Arts Council Arts Partnerships PAC is pleased to partner with a number of individuals and organizations to create more visibility for the arts in San Mateo County. Upcoming events include:
Sustainable San Mateo County and Goodwill Industries, Inaugural Art Auction, August 12th Organizers are asking prominent artists in our community to donate paintings, sculptures, and other art forms which will b e displayed and sold at the event on August 12th. The theme of the auction is "Sustainability for Positive Change". Ideas for this theme include but are not limited to recycling, environmental conservation, and clean energy. Artwork may be delivered to Twin Pines Art Center, 10 Twin Pines Lane from 1-4 Mon-Sun. Learn more
Filoli Art Show, "America the Beautiful", Saturday, August 14, In celebration of the visual art achievements of San Mateo County students, the art show, "America the Beautiful", is scheduled for Saturday, August 14. More than 200 works of art by local students grades K-12 will be displayed. A variety of activities and performing groups will entertain visitors, art activities for children are available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a brief ceremony happens around noon. Children are admitted free. The art day is a partnership between Filoli, San Mateo County Schools, Peninsula Arts Council, and the San Mateo County Alliance for Arts Education. Little House Artist Lecture Series - Thursdays in August Save the Date(s) for a lecture series at Little House. This new speaker series is designed to provide networking opportunities and resources for artists and will run every Thursday in August from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. in the Auditorium at Little House, 800 Middle Ave. in Menlo Park. PAC Board Members Julie Fellers and Beth Mostovoy will speak about opportunities for artists on August 12.

Artist of the Month, Photographer, Beth Mostovoy
Beth Mostovoy created Honeybear Prints Photography in 1999, traveling locally and world wide to create "photographs that reveal the extra-ordinary in the o rdinary moments that color our lives." Her "Doorway Collection" explores the universal fascination with amazing doors from diverse locations such as Italy, France, China, Greece, Mexico, New Orleans, New Mexico, and Australia/New Zealand, offered as a series of nine. Beth's work is exhibited in select Art & Wine Festivals, in the Bay Area and exclusively at Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin Bookstore in Scottsdale. In her quest to bring art to the community, Beth was instrumental in starting the Art Walk, and helped bring Phantom Galleries to downtown Redwood City. Currently, Beth co-produces the successful "Art on the Square shows in beautiful Courthouse Square in Redwood City and serves on the Board of the Peninsula Arts Council. Beth lives in Redwood City with her sweet Honeybear, Kraig and their dog, Kahlua. Contact Beth

Arts Council awarded $9,481 in funding
from the Redwood
City Civic Cultural Commission to produce two public art projects in
downtown Redwood City. "
The Commercial Street Mural
Project" will consist of murals painted on the backside of buildings and "Birds on
Broadway" will develop into a bird-themed sculpture walking path along
Broadway Avenue.

PAC Welcomes New Board Member!
Welcome Bea Sharp, a glass artist in South San Francisco, who began working in glass thirteen
years ago when her husband brought home a microwave kiln from the local
hobby store. Bea has been creating glass art and teaching workshops ever since. Our newest PAC Board Member, Bea brings with her a sunny personality and a love of the arts.

New Curators for Community and Caldwell Galleries The Peninsula Arts Council has been
responsible for curating and installing exhibitions in the County Government
Center galleries since January 2003. We thank PAC Members, Ruth Waters and Beate Amler for sharing
their time and curatorial skills to provide opportunities for artists to
display their work in public venues. Beginning June 30, 2010, the San
Mateo County Arts Commission will be managing the Community and Caldwell
Galleries. For more information on
