8th ANNUAL DIAMOND AWARDS Thursday, January 28, 2010
Each year the Diamond Awards are presented to give recognition to individuals and organizations for their artistic achievements and contributions to the arts in San Mateo County. Join us on Thursday evening, January 28, from 5:30 - 8:00 pm at the Redwood Shores Public Library, when the Peninsula Arts Council presents the awards to this year's outstanding winners. This year's Honorary Chair is Alisa Clancy, KCSM 91.1 FM, Operations Director and Host of "A Morning Cup of Jazz". There is no cost to attend.

New Online Arts Store Just in Time for Holiday Shopping
The Peninsula Arts Council has curated a collection of items highlighting the broad range of talent that exists in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over 1000 DVDs, CD's and books in the collection feature the unique talent of artists, writers and business leaders who live or have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. The DVD film collection, curated in conjunction with the San Mateo County Film Commission, features over 65 films actually filmed in San Mateo County! Find films such as Heaven Can Wait & The Wedding Planner filmed at Filoli Mansion or Mrs. Doubtfire, whose courtroom scenes were filmed at the historic San Mateo County courtroom located in what now is the San Mateo County History Museum.
Additional lists such as The National Endowment for the Arts, Oprah's Book Club list and NPR's "You Must Read This" list are also featured. Shop now for the holidays and help support the arts in San Mateo County! Visit our site in the future as it grows to include other lists such as Caldecott, Newbury and Pulitzer prize winners!

Featuring 40 pop and holiday songs made famous by the "Chairman of the Board," you'll enjoy specially arranged versions of classics like "Mistletoe & Holly", "The Christmas Song" and "I'll be Home for Christmas," plus such Sinatra classics as "New York, New York", "That's Life", "Love and Marriage", and of course "My Way." 2009 San Carlos Arts & Culture Annual Achievement Award
Our own Peninsula Arts Council board member Steve Aguirre, who chairs San Carlos Arts & Culture commission, presented the 2009 San Carlos Arts & Culture annual achievement award to Devon Ruehl, president of the San Carlos Villagers. The Villagers are a group of volunteers dedicated to preserving the memories and history of San Carlos through the ongoing docenting of the Museum of San Carlos History. Museum info | |
