The Peninsula Arts Council hosted a luncheon and private tour of The Anderson Collection on Thursday, October 29, 2009. The Anderson Collection, located in Menlo Park, is one of the largest and most outstanding private collections of 20th century American art in the world. The collection has been built over the last 40 years by Harry W. and Mary Margaret Anderson, and by their daughter, Mary Patricia Anderson Pence. Currently, there are about 820 artworks by over 220 artists in the Anderson Collection. Works from the notable collection can currently be seen at the Anderson Gallery of Graphic Art at the de Young Museum, as well as the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford, and Sonoma Valley Museum of Art. We thank The Anderson Collection who graciously offered this tour to the Peninsula Arts Council for its annual October National Arts & Humanities Month celebration.
