Ararat Rally Is 25 Years Old

Since 1987, Ararat Rally has been an exciting annual event organized by dedicated volunteers. Created in support of Homentemen Glendale Ararat Chapter, the rally's purpose is to raise funds and help the organization as it serves the community's youth in Scouting, athletics and cultural activities.

Anywhere from 35 to 50 participating cars will leave the Ararat Center on San Fernando Road in Los Angeles, on a fall Saturday morning, to reach the finish line. The rally takes approximately nine hours to complete, as the participants follow the road-book instructions to the annually varying destination hundreds of miles away. Each car is manned by a driver and a navigator, with a limit of four passengers per car. Though the event's primary goal is charity, each team's goal is to reach all of the randomly selected checkpoints and the final destination at a precise time.

Due to dedication and commitment of our volunteers and Rally masters throughout the years this event has become not only one of the most successful and exciting events we have, but has grown to become one of if not the most popular TSD amateur car Rally races in North America.

Armenian American Leadership Seminar

Homenetmen Glendale "Ararat" Chapter and Woodbury University will be holding the first Armenian American Leadership Seminar. This historic event will take place at Woodbury University's Fletcher Jones Foundation Auditorium located at the newly constructed School of Business building in its Burbank campus. The event is scheduled for September 29, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and aims to promote leadership and community service to the younger generation.

With this seminar we expect to have the kind of success that ensures a continuing and well rounded youth leadership program. To find out about the speakers and honorees, check our website at: www.ararat.org

Glendale Friendship Games

This year we will organize the 7th Annual Glendale Friendship Games in months of October and November. These competitions, attracting more than 700 athletes, will be held amongst teams and individuals from local and surrounding public schools, organizations and Homenetmen chapters in basketball, soccer, volleyball and table tennis. The principal goal for holding these games is to promote awareness and camaraderie amongst youth from different backgrounds and ethnicities. The Games are sponsored and endorsed by the City of Glendale and Glendale School District. This year we will also have participants from Northeast Police Station and a team consisted of City of Glendale employees.
