 Scout Leaders' Mammoth Trip

On the weekend of January 14-17, about thirty of our scouting leaders went on their annual Mammoth Leader's Trip.  This trip is a time for our leaders to relax and enjoy the snow without the responsibility of young scouts. This year there were many new leaders and they bonded through snowball fights, snow sports, ice skating, games, cooking, and so on.

College Financing Seminars

Homenetmen Glendale "Ararat" Chapter has initiated a new program to assist college-bound students with educational grants, loans and scholarship applications.

To this end, a series of informative panel discussions are being planned, the first of which was held on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Ararat Center. Invitations were sent out for this session. We definitely hope this new program will help our young members and their families in the complicated process of obtaining college financing, grants and scholarships and will facilitate and further their efforts in achieving excellence in higher education.

Parents Day with Scouts

On January 23, our Scouting Division had their Parent Meeting to kick start the year along with a new twist, Parent Day.  The parents joined in and went through a normal Sunday's activities along with their children.  It was nice for the parents to be able to see what a normal day with scouts consists of. For the children, to have their parents with them was a special treat.  The day was topped off with a barbeque and ended with the parent meeting.  About eighty parents attended and all in all the day was a success.

Ararat & Azadamard Camp

On the weekend of January 28-30, four of our scouting troops went on a camping trip with Pasadena "Azadamard" Chapter's scouts.  Ararat troops that attended were Arenoush 5, Ari 2, Artsvik 2, and Guylik 2.  The camp was held at the AYF campground with over a hundred participants.  It was an excellent learning experience for the scouts of all ages and many new bonds were formed that will surely last a lifetime.  For the scouts this was simply the beginning of their scouting experiences together.  The weekend had two simultaneously running schedules for the different age groups and a lot a snow to make everything that much better.

2011 Scouts' Executive Committee

On January 30th, our Scouting Executive Committee for 2011 received their pashtons.  This year almost everyone in the committee is new to their positions and the team is eager to take on the year's scouting activities.  This team has been working together since December when the 2010 executive committee's term ended.  The new team is comprised of Artin Baghramian,  (Masnachooghi Khmbapet), Nathalie Karimian (Pokh-Masnachooghi Khmbapetoohi & Secretary), Talin Khechoomian (Krtser Miavori Khmbapetoohi), Narineh Yermian (Arenoush Miavori Khmbapetoohi), and Alex Minassians (Ari Miavori Khmbapet).  Guests for the day included members of the Regional Scouting Committee, our chapter's Executive Committee, family members, and past and current scouts.

 $10 Today      Brighter Future Tomorrow

Dear Friends of Ararat,

The newly purchased North Campus facility enables the Chapter to serve an additional 500 youth in various athletic, scouting, and cultural activities.

However, the project is far from completion and requires the help of our friends to acheive its full potential. Let's take ownership by donating $10 per month to complete this enormous project and support Ararat in serving our community's youth.
