We Asked The Board President
We talked with Helik Isagholian, the president of the Board of Directors at Ararat and asked her about the effects of the current economy in 2010 operations and her plans for the second half of the year and beyond.
How does the economy effect the day to day operation at Ararat? "The economic downturn has affected the lives of millions of Americans, and our organization has not been spared this hardship. Like some of our members, we have had to tighten our belts and become more conscious of the funds that we expend. We have had to concentrate our efforts on our number one priority, providing our members the same level of service that they have become accustomed to. With the help of our dedicated donors and division leaders, who have shouldered much of the financial burden, we have sustained our sports, scouting, and cultural activities with the hope that we can provide our members a sense of community and belonging when they need it most." What would you like to accomplish? "I have focused my efforts on ensuring that the organization as a whole adheres to our mission statement to provide a healthy and safe environment, where each member will have the opportunity to achieve his or her highest goal in athletic, scouting, and cultural arenas. In addition I have worked with our tireless board members to outline the following five major goals: increasing the quality of all of our chapters' programs, decreasing overhead expenses, completing North Campus construction, recruiting more young faces for leadership positions, and increasing our volunteer base. With the support of our members and the teamwork of my board, I know that we will achieve all of the goals set out above in 2010." |
Navasartian Games
Everyone associated with Homemnetmen is familiar with Navasartian games. It's Homenetmen's annual centerpiece achievement, featuring sporting events, a festival and a grand parade, entertaining thousands of athletes, parents, volunteers and supporters. The organizers agonize over maintaining the balance between intense competition and sportsmanship, while participants - members, parents and fans alike - are treated to a carefree weekend of fun and games. This much is obvious even to the most casual observer. What is not immediately apparent, which perhaps is the true importance of these games, is that the games - culminating in the final weekend - are some of the defining moments in our youth's growing up years. The time when everything is possible ; the future is as bright as the July sun. It's when one has that first summer crush, the first encounter, and when lifelong friendships and bonds are formed. All Homenetmenagans, regardless of age, have a 'Navasartian moment'; a story albeit slightly embellished, nonetheless profoundly true, which in essence is a testament to how we relive our youth and our forming years, through the games. Now, before we drown ourselves in nostalgia, we must recognize the selfless devotion of a handful, who typically have the least the gain, but without whom none of this will be possible. They are the nameless, faceless and tireless unsung heroes, who place the burden on their shoulders and carry the load. We salute all the volunteers, whose magnanimous gift of time enables thousands of others to have their day in the sun.

Family● Responsibility● Support●Obligations
These are all key words that help form what Ararat is all about. Homenetmen Family We have always felt safe to send our children to Homenetmen Ararat to have fun, develop their social skills, and learn about our heritage. Responsibility As Homenetmen family members, we are responsible to preserve our family morally, ethically, and even financially. Support To support our family, we have to work and contribute towards its success. Let's make this our course of action. Obligations To secure, safeguard, and support our Homenetmen family, let's take action by pledging to donate $10.00 a month to prove to our children that we mean what we preach. Please join us in this important call to action. By pledging $10.00 a month in our Pledge Campaign we are securing that our future generations experience the same Homenetmen Ararat family that we are all apart of.

Corporate Matching Funds
Wish you could give twice as
much to the Homenetmen Ararat? Maybe you can... There are many companies that match their employees' non-profit,
charitable contributions, which means that what you donate could be doubled or even tripled depending on your company's matching gift program. Companies have
different procedures to obtain the match, but most of the time it is as simple
as filling out a form via your company's website or getting a form from Human
Resources. Your form may have a section to be filled out by Ararat. If so, please submit your form to our office,
we will fill out that portion of your form and mail it to your company. Your employer will then send us a Matching Gift. It's
that easy! The
following is a link where you can check to see if your company has a
matching gift program: University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center search engine: http://www.matchinggifts.com/mdanderson/ The following companies reportedly offer "matching gift" programs. If you or someone in your family works for one of these companies, please ask
them about their matching gift programs. If your company is not listed -
please check with them! They may have a program and we are just not aware
of it. Please let us know so we can add them to our list: Thank you for all you do to support Homenetmen Ararat!
