Your Help is Needed!
Your voices were heard at the Straban Township meeting over a year ago, and we won their hearts and approval for the Therapeutic Learning Center. We are asking you to make your voice heard again!
Our building progress is once again being held up. Straban Township is requiring us to have a bond in place before we can begin construction on the Therapeutic Learning Center. We have applied at over a dozen different banking, loan, and insurance establishments but no one will agree to issue a bond. If we could raise $317,000, we could post our own bond and begin building immediately. Another way is to find an individual or a company that would post a bond for us. We are hoping to get the news media involved with a public appeal to attract a bondholder and move the heart of the community and township once again. Here is where you can help us to raise the media's attention. Please write a letter or send an email to the following media centers so they are willing to give us coverage. Our "ask" to them is simple... "Can you please help us get our building construction underway so our riders with disabilities can get the therapy they need and love? By giving our situation some coverage, it will help us inform the public about what we need." Send your email to the following: Your personal testimonies move mountains!! |

Thanks to St Catherine's!
Often we refer to Shining Star's students as our 'kids' but some of our kid's come from the elder community. In fact there were 8 students in our driving/riding program this past summer from the St Catherine's Nursing Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
To show their appreciation, St. Catherine's held a Christmas bazaar and donated the proceeds to Shining Stars.
