Save Money with Programmable Thermostats
With old-fashioned manual thermostats, you have to remember to turn down the heat before you go to bed and before you leave the house; otherwise, you're burning fuel (and spending money) needlessly.
Programmable thermostats make these adjustments automatically, enabling you to save energy every day. You also gain in comfort, because you can program the thermostat to raise room temperature a few minutes before your normal wakeup time. Yes, this green upgrade definitely falls into the "no-brainer" category. You'll have to decide whether to buy a "5-2" thermostat that gives you a separate weekday and weekend programming options, or a "5-1-1" model with separate weekday, Saturday and Sunday programs. Don't worry; it's easy to override settings if your schedule changes.

Toolbox in Your Pocket
