Thanks from Markham
To our shoppers:
- For your financial support which helps us upgrade and maintain the International Garden, make improvements to the nursery and produce programs and demonstrations.
- For your enthusiasm for the plants we offer in the nursery. It is always rewarding to have one of you tell us about a small plant that you bought at Markham that is now a beautiful part of your garden.
To our volunteers:
- For all your hard work and long-standing commitment to Markham. Our volunteers not only propagate and nurture the plants we sell in the nursery but they help clean up and organize the nursery, repair and maintain the equipment, give expert advice to shoppers on Tuesday and at our monthly sales, help with planting and labeling in the International Garden, produce the weekly emails, and give support at our programs and demonstrations. Markham is truly fortunate to have so many volunteers who are so knowledgeable (several are Master Gardeners) and help so much.
We are taking a short break from writing emails this winter. There may be weeks where we send out some old emails that feature favorites which we expect to have in the nursery next year. But even if you don't hear from us at all, we will be back at the first glimpse of Spring. And our first plant sale is already scheduled for mid-March. We look forward to seeing you then.

Editor's Notes: Thanks to Barbara for keeping the email inputs coming during the year and all the organizational things she does to keep the nursery running. She makes the editor's life so much easier... and thanks to you out there for reading the emails; hopefully they help you enjoy your garden even more. We are always happy to consider your recommendations on how to improve the emails and anything else about the nursery and Markham. Let us know. And if you need a little "air" over the holidays, and there's a break in the weather, consider a stroll at Markham. The Park is open every day during daylight hours and there is plenty to see and do for all ages. Fred and the City crew do a great job maintaining the Park for all to enjoy. No playground per se, but plenty of paths, lawns, plants and nature to see and observe up close... all in a very peaceful setting... something I suspect all of us would enjoy during the hectic holiday period ahead.
