Developing a Corporate Community Involvement Strategy
On April 26th CBSR hosted a webinar focused on helping companies develop corporate community involvement strategies.
We set the stage by identifying the following learning objectives:
- Learn how to develop a corporate community involvement strategy that integrates organizational culture, competencies and assets, community and employee interests, and core business strategy to deliver social and business impacts over the long-term.
- Understand the relationship between brand impact and local discretion when determining the corporate community involvement model that works best for your organization.
- Understand what questions you need to answer to determine the intersection between business priorities, organizational assets and stakeholder expectations.

Purolator - Enhancing Community Involvement through Collaboration

Since launching the Purolator Tackle Hunger™ program in 2003, Purolator and partners have helped deliver the equivalent of more than 4.5 million pounds of food to local food banks across Canada.
This year, to mark the 10th season of the program, Purolator is on a drive to deliver the equivalent of 1 million pounds of food. Reaching this goal will be a multi-partner effort of existing and new initiatives which highlight how the program has evolved from a sponsorship marketing program to a multi-stakeholder partnership which is contributing to CSR integration throughout Purolator's operations.
The delivery of goods is Purolator's business; the company recognized how much more community-based organizations could accomplish when they have delivery vehicles to enhance their ability to respond to donors and those in need. Purolator has committed to 10 Trucks for 10 Years, an effort that is improving the capacity and increasing the efficiency of food banks to reach more families who are in need.

Toward a Framework for Resource Extraction Industries - ISID Conference Summary Recently Maria José Ramos, CBSR Advisor, attended the Institute for the Study of International Development, (ISID) Resource extraction conference. The conference brought together top-level speakers from all sectors (government, private sector, NGOs, communities, civil society, the international community and the finance sector) to talk about mineral extraction, and both the challenges and opportunities of public-private partnerships for sustainable development.
The array of speakers and their different positions and perspectives made it an enriching conversation that was able to steer away from the one-sided discourses, to get into more of the "grey zones" of this discussion and the potential solutions to addressing these.
