Thinking about your next remodel?

 

The answer is different for everyone. Projects are little or large and many people prefer to have skillful help when working on what is likely to be your biggest investment.

 

#1 A well maintained house will affect appraisals. Are you thinking of putting your house on the market? Take a look at the outside. How does it look from the street? Does it need power washing? Painting? Do entry doors close and seal properly? If your house were on the market and you were seeing it for the first time-what would you change? Are you concerned what other people will see?

#2 Energy prices are going up and home systems are getting older and less efficient. Tax incentives and energy efficiency are a consideration. For 2009 and (hopefully) through 2010, reducing heat loss and upgrading the efficiencies of heating and air conditioning, insulation, some roofing, and solar power will provide a tax incentive (and maybe rebates from manufacturers or power companies). Improving in these areas will surely save something in monthly energy bills!

 

#3 Some of the reasons we are helping homeowners now is because they really love their neighborhood. They have friends in the neighborhood, they like the school district, proximity to work, or parks. Yet, they are frustrated with their home. Do you need more room for parties and picnics? Would you like to enjoy a less "buggy" back yard? It's possible you've come home to retire, but the space doesn't suit your needs.

Walk around the inside of your home.  Homeowners tell us they are tired of their old kitchen, or the mold in their bathroom keeps coming back (where the tile fell off). They would like their master bath more suited to how they use it. A new baby's coming. Things look and feel too old! 

#4 Remodeling costs are down. Interest rates are fairly stable.

 

#5 Villa is now accepting Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card. We had been asked several times this year if we accepted credit cards. Homeowners have told us they want to use them for some projects, and they think the convenience alone can't be beat. So, we listened and are now set up to process credit card purchases.

 

#6 Villa is offering financing through GE Money. This kind of financing option may be less cumbersome than typical mortgage financing. Financing is available for amounts as low as $1,000 and up to $25,000.00. There are a couple of options available, and you may find one of the options helpful to finance your smaller projects, or a portion of a larger project, and/or just to free up your existing cash to spend on something else.

 

You will decide to repair or renovate for a variety of personal reasons. Repairs are likely to help maintain value. Improvements are likely to help do just that-improve value.
