SMG E-News Issue #5
   October 2009
Dear ,

SMG's summer season finished strong in September with four days of climbing on the Super Slabs with juniors from the Coummunity School in Ketchum, Idaho.  Thanks to everyone who came out climbing with us this year.  Guides were constantly in and out of the mountains and we are all thankful for a busy season in the midst of some hard times.  Check out our blog for some summer highlights.

Before we dive headlong into winter we wanted to send out a quick update regarding some great news at SMG.  Read below about an exciting partnership with Black Diamond, a WFR course, fall rock guiding, and of course, a winter preview.

With the snow flying in central Idaho (there was 18" on top of Bald Mountain last week!) ski season is just around the corner!  We'll tell you more about what's coming up in November's newsletter.  In the meantime, there are still a few dates left at the Williams Peak Yurt, and spaces in our Avalanche Classes.  Due to overwhelming demand we've added a second Ski Mountaineering Course, and there are a 1-2 spaces left in each.  Be sure to stay in touch if you're interested in any of our winter programs because they are filling up quickly!

New Partnership Agreement with Black Diamond

In October SMG finalized a partnership with Black Diamond, the premier manufacturer of climbing and skiing equipment.  SMG will use BD equipment in our climbing and skiing demo "cache" and BD will help support our business on their website and as part of their Preferred Guide Partnership Program.  A special thanks to Russel Slaugh, Mike Kurlich and Roger Strong at Black Diamond for helping get SMG on board with this program!

Autumn Rock Guiding

We're gearing up for ski season, but don't forget about fall rock climbing.  If it's too cold in the Sawtooths or the City of Rocks we're available for private trips (some through partner outfitters) in sunny locales such as Red Rocks, Nevada, Moab, Utah, or Potrero Chico, Mexico!  Also possible are clinics and private instruction utilizing the climbing gym at the Wood River Community YMCA in Ketchum.
