Shadow Oaks Recreation Association
SORA Dolphin Swim Clinic
July 20-24, 2009 |
Specialized Swim Clinic for ALL swimmers. The focus of this clinic is to improve the technique of young swimmers and get newcomers into the water for the first time. This is a great opportunity for swimmers looking ahead to next year and giving them an opportunity to get used to the pool, coaches, and the rest of the team.
Swimmers will be grouped based on age, skill level and endurance.
8-11a.m. for advanced swimmers (advanced swimmers are swimmers over the age of eight, with two or more years of experience in swimming*). This group will be split up according to skill level and endurance. 10-11a.m. will be spent doing dry land workouts.
9:30-11a.m. for beginning swimmers (those that do not meet the requirements of the advanced swimmers). 9:30-10 a.m. will be spent doing dry land workouts.
11:00 a.m. Education Session Coaches will gather everybody and teach about swimming, exercise, technique, or other issues important to the swimmer. Following this, lunch will be provided on the pool grounds. After lunch, everyone will participate in some sort of organized games such as volleyball, football, ultimate Frisbee, soccer, and other things to keep the kids active while still allowing them to have a good time in a fun environment with other kids their age.
2:30 p.m. Clinic activities end If you wish to participate, but cannot stay the whole time or will be unable to come every day, contact Ben Silvers (information below) to discuss. If possible, we would like everyone to stay the whole time for the full benefit of the clinic.
Other information: All swimmers will be doing dry land workouts at some point in the practice times and will be required to bring a pair of tennis shoes and clothes to run in, in addition to their goggles, swim cap (optional for boys, but required for girls), and one piece swim suit for girls. The clinic is available for children ages 4+. Parents are invited to participate and swim the workouts as well. Clinic will be led by Ben Silvers, Emma Slattery, Theresa Malicki and Phillip Eukel. Though one-on-one time may be limited, we will have at least one coach in the water with the beginner swimmers at all times. Volunteers are welcome to help.
Price: $100/child-payable 1st day
