Merry Christmas banner
Once again I write when a change of season is upon us. We have experienced a few good frosts, a snow fall and there is a definite nip in the air in the morning. Early autumn is beautiful, a literal feast for the senses - colour, aroma, taste, the texture of warm bulky sweaters and the sounds of leaves crunching underfoot. Then, as the season progresses and the days get shorter, autumn seems to lose its lustre. Getting everybody out the door on time in the morning seems to be a little bit more challenging as darkness takes longer to recede before the first rays of sunlight press over the horizon  and evening descends so early.

Kapetyn farm in winterOn the farm the harvest is being brought in, combines wade through the corn fields and spew golden kernels of corn from their throats into heaping wagons. We are thankful for the abundance and very aware that all good gifts are from the LORD. When this season is upon us it means even longer days than usual, the guys are up early and stay up late to gather the crops before the snow comes. There is a sense of urgency to the work. It brings to mind Jesus' words in Mathew 9:35-38

"And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest."

Lately I have had a pressing in on my heart for the lost. God took a trial, someone very close to me, who is deciding whether or not to choose to serve the LORD, and through the trial, which has not yet resolved, increased my love for the lost. He gave me fervency in prayer like I never had before. I thank the LORD for the trial because he softened me through it and increased my capacity to love those who do not yet know him. He is so good, only he can work all things together for the good of those who love him (from Romans 8:28).

I believe with all my heart that we are living in the late autumn time of this world. The harvest is almost complete and then, when winter comes, this earth will die and a new time will be ushered in with a new heaven and a new earth. ARE YOU READY?

On the women's ministry team we are mindful of the times and believe that we need to equip you for the times we are living in. In January we will be digging into a study on the book of Revelation entitled "Here and Now, Then and There" by Beth Moore. We will roll out several studies at different times during the week in order to make it convenient for any woman who desires to attend to be able to do so. Watch the calendar and bulletin for more information. Please consider attending and bring a friend, now more than ever... time is of the essence.

adore him Christmas event

Our Christmas event is fast approaching. This year our event is titled "Adore Him".

We will enjoy listening to several musically talented individuals and groups as they help us usher in the season of Christ's birth.
As well, we'll enjoy warm beverages and delectable desserts.
You won't want to miss this special evening so be sure to get this on your calendar.

This year we have a special guest - Renee Power - demonstrating holiday decor. Renee has been hired for the past several years to decorate the Christmas trees at Bradford Greenhouses. We are excited to have her share her expertise with us.

Brunch Oven Omelet

This is a great recipe for Christmas morning breakfast (and it's low calorie too). Serve with baked peameal bacon, ham or sausage, hash browns and you are done.

This serves 12 but can easily be cut in half. If you do this be sure to reduce the size of the pan as well.
Prep time 10 minutes
Bake for 35 minutes.

1/4 cup butter or margarine

18 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons salt
4 medium green onions, chopped (1/4 cup)

To make this a calorie friendly omelet, use low fat sour cream and 1% milk or skim milk. To add even more flavour you could add chopped ham, green peppers, mushrooms etc.

1. Heat oven to 325F
2. In 13 x 9 inch glass baking dish, melt butter in oven; tilt dish to coat bottom.

3. In large bowl, beat eggs, sour cream, milk and salt with fork or wire whisk until blended. Stir in onions. Pour into baking dish.
4. Bake uncovered about 35 minutes or until eggs are set but moist. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.
Memory Verse

"From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away."

Matthew 24:32-35
