Ah, summer...It is a sweet time. I love sitting out on the patio early in the morning and watching the early morning dew evaporate as the sun climbs higher in the sky. I love sitting for a little longer over a coffee with my husband as we talk about the day ahead. I love the green fullness of life surrounding me as I watch the fields change and mature. There is an old saying about the corn crop - 'knee high by the 4th of July', woman in corn fieldwell the corn fields around Barrie this year were well past waist high at that point1 With the heat and the rain it has been like watching time lapse photography in real time, incredible!

At the end of June I finished leading a group of women through The Patriarchs by Beth Moore, it was phenomenal! The growth we experienced as a group was comparative to corn fields around us. There was life changing stuff happening right before our eyes. It is so encouraging to be part of something like that. I love women's small groups; I love it when I see relationships forming and trust building and Biblical truths coming alive and being applied. It is so good to
book cover Fingerprints of Godbe a part of something like that, it deepens faith and encourages and builds up. Right now there are two groups meeting under the leadership of Marilyn Shewfelt studying 'The Fingerprints of God' by Jennifer Rothschild. They are experiencing wonderful growth and fellowship as they learn to recognize God's intimate touch on their lives.

daisy flowerWhat are you doing about staying intimate with God this summer? There are so many wonderful opportunities to ramp up your personal time with the Lord. But it is important to have a plan! How about digging out an old study and going through it again? It is a great way to see how much you have grown. How about meeting with a friend over the next few weeks and tearing apart a particular passage? How about committing to memorizing scripture with a friend or your spouse and going for memory walks where you recite scripture together as you walk. Personally I love this one -  spiritual and physical fitness at the same time...what could be healthier? To get you started how about committing this verse to memory....

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but(A) you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
Joshua 1:8 (ESV)

I'll have more information for you next month about what's happening in the fall.
In the meantime, I wish you the best for the remaining summer.
