| Student Motivation
Did you know that your enthusiasm and purpose for teaching directly effects how a student learns? According to Barbara Gross Davis author of Tools for Teaching, students are motivated by the actions of the teacher. She states that there are three general strategies that you can promote in your teaching habits that will directly influence the motivation for a student to learn.
1-Capitalize on students existing needs
2-Make students active participants in learning
3-Ask students to analyze what makes their classes less or more motivating
Davis also gives practical advice on how to motivate students by incorporating instructional behaviors, course structure, de-emphasizing grades, teaching students to respond to their work, and having students do the reading.

The Giving Sack Writing Contest
SEAT SACK believes that giving students purpose for writing helps to motivate and inspire them. Therefore, we have created "The Giving Sack" writing contest. Students share in their favorite writing style what giving means to them. In addition, SEAT SACK will be leaving the final judging up to the teachers, students, family, friends and anyone else who may visit our website during the month of May. The top winners will receive a donation to their favorite charity in their name, a gift certificate for themselves and their teacher's name will be entered to win a classroom set of SEAT SACKS.
