Greetings!
Happy Valentines Day from your fellow Wolverines! Although it's only February, spring is in the air in North Bridgton, at least for some of us hoping for the weather to change!
Just a few short weeks remain before the Class of 2012 departs for Spring Break. The fourth quarter will soon be upon us. This last stage of the BA year is arguably the quickest - highlighted by Dorm Wars Softball, longer days, college acceptance letters, and preparation for final exams. The Admission team is busy at work enrolling the next crop of Wolverines, slated to arrive on campus in late August.
We hope you enjoy some other recent news from North Bridgton...

Two Sons of Bridgton Send Pictures From Afar - Brothers Mike Daley '04 and Tom Daley '05 are both currently serving in the United States Special Forces in Afghanistan. Both young men are sons of longtime faculty member Joe Daley '77. Mr. Daley's third son, Patrick, is a 2009 Bridgton graduate and currently attending college. While Tom sent his picture in to BA first, Mike claims that the idea was all his. Are you an active duty Bridgton alumnus? Send an update of where you are, along with any photos, to alumni@bridgtonacademy.org so we can send you a special thanks for your service. (Above - Mike Daley '04, Below - Tom Daley '05)

Lacrosse Team Moves Into New Locker Room - As Bridgton Academy seeks to make additional improvements to our athletic facilities, we are beginning the work of relocating our team locker rooms to the mezzanine of Bridgton Ice Arena. Two new hockey locker rooms opened in the new location last year, and the newest room to open belongs to the Wolverine Lacrosse team. Housed next door to the Hockey A team, this locker room boasts 30 custom- made wooden lockers, as well as plenty of floor space for the team to call their own and an exterior door that opens adjacent to the playing field. Both the players and coaches are excited about their new home.

1967 Alumnus Shares Bridgton Memories - In continuing with this year's chapel "CHED" talks, Monday, January 30 featured another of Bridgton's alumni, Tim Armour '67. Tim shared with the students and faculty stories about his life's journey since attending Bridgton. Mixed with plenty of humor, Tim told many of stories of what it was like for him to be a student at Bridgton. He also talked of how many students who have attended here form lifelong friendships, such as his friendship with Mike Doyle '67, who travelled to Bridgton with Tim to be part of chapel. Though the days of pay phones and no cars on campus are long gone, most importantly the mission of Bridgton remains the same, and it is the year that truly makes a difference. In addition to his active involvement as an alumnus, Tim currently serves as a member of the Bridgton Academy Board of Trustees. |

Parents Invited Back to Campus - This year on President's Day, parents and grandparents will be welcomed onto campus for a special Bridgton Academy Winter Parents' Visit Day. Now that students have been at BA for a full semester, the intention of this day is to provide parents and family members with the opportunity to visit campus during the second semester and get a glimpse of their Wolverine's daily experience.
This event will kick-off with dinner on Sunday night, followed by a dessert reception at Headmaster Vigneau's home. On Monday morning, parents and friends are invited to attend their son's classes, share lunch with us, and join in on our Bridgton Academy Experience program Monday afternoon. Guests are welcome to participate in their son's BA Experience activity, or visit a few of our programs to see what they are all about.
It's not too late to let us know of your plans to join us. Please call Michelle Cross in the Alumni & Development Office at 207-647-3322, ext.1229 or email mcross@bridgtonacademy.org if you would like to attend or have any questions.

2005 Wolverine Victor Cruz Earns Super Bowl Ring- Bridgton Academy is excited to announce that one of our own, Victor Cruz '05, is now a Super Bowl champion! Victor, who recently appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon as well as presented an award at the Grammy's, is the fourth Wolverine to ever earn a Super Bowl ring. Victor is closely following in the footsteps of another Bridgton alumnus Bruce Kimball, Class of 1975. Bruce played football at BA (offensive lineman) and went on to attend the University of Massachusetts. For two seasons, Bruce was a member of the NY Giants squad. He went on to play for six additional years for the Washington Redskins, participating in two Super Bowls, ultimately earning a ring in Super Bowl XVIII in 1983. Victor is the second Bridgton Wolverine to follow the path from North Bridgton to UMASS, from UMASS to the Giants, and from a stellar NFL season to the biggest football game in the world. In addition to the ring that Bruce Kimball '75 has, there are three other BA alumni that have rings: Jermaine Wiggins '94 won his with the Pats in Super Bowl XXXVI; Mike Cerullo '86, who won his two years ago when he was a coach with the Saints; and Dave Campo '66, who has three rings from his time as an assistant coach with the Dallas Cowboys.
Congratulations Victor!!

Brad McGovern '11 Named ECAC Rookie of the Week - Brad McGovern, a freshman at the University of Southern Maine, was recently recognized as the ECAC Rookie of the Week. Brad netted two goals and four assists for a total of six points in a pair of games against The University of New England this season. In addition to his stellar performance against UNE, McGovern has tallied a total of 16 points this year with four goals and twelve assists. Coach Lounsbury is happy to see the success that McGovern has found and commented, "Brad is a product of a good work ethic. He came in with tons of raw talent and has worked to become a high-end college hockey player. I only see Brad getting better and making the most of his four years at USM."

Amir Garrett Finds Success on the Court at St. John's -After completing the first semester at Bridgton Academy, Amir Garrett found himself with the grades he needed to qualify to play at St. John's the following semester. Only a few short days after departing Bridgton, Garrett was on the court as a key member of the Red Storm's lineup. Since Garrett has been on the team, he has seen time in 13 games, including 5 starts. In these games, Garrett has already tallied 79 points and collected 46 rebounds (17 offensive and 29 defensive).
As Coach Lesure's first student athlete to start at Bridgton Academy one week and in the Big East in the next, Lesure is proud of the success Garrett has found commenting, "Amir has made all of us proud through the mature manner in which he has successfully managed the transition to college on and off the court. I'm also pleased that he has remained supportive of his teammates here and the progress we are making in our own season. I know that Amir has quickly become a great ambassador for our school and while I miss him, I am extremely happy for him at the same time.""

Dorm Upgrade a Big Improvement - While students were home over the Christmas holiday vacation, back on campus the dormitory lounges were getting an upgrade. Thanks to a generous collaborative gift from the Bridgton Academy Board of Trustees, each dorm lounge became the proud recipient of a new flat-screen television. At one time, many of our trustees were students at Bridgton, and realize the role of a comfortable dorm in this home away from home. These larger televisions are one small piece in helping to make each dorm a little better than it was before, and we would all like to thank the trustees for making this a reality.
