Pete, who holds Bridgton's James "Jake" Laferriere Chair of Excellence in Teaching, credits the endowment for enabling him to participate in the conference. The Laferriere Chair was established in 2004 by Andrew Barr '99 and family.

Fletcher Carr Appointed as Dean of Faculty, New Hires Join Staff - Fletcher Carr has guided hundreds, and possibly thousands, of Bridgton students though the college application process. This summer, he takes on a new role as the Dean of Faculty. In this position, Fletcher will oversee all faculty and academics, including Focused Academic Coaching, the Writing Center, and more. With his promotion, Fletcher's assistant director,
Kate Winslow, has accepted the job of Director of College Counseling.

Nick LeBel, a number of other new faces will also be seen around the Bridgton campus this fall.
Troy Guidone has been hired as a new College Counselor and assistant baseball coach. Troy is a graduate of Fordham University (New York) and holds a bachelor's degree in English. His background includes teaching and coaching, and he has even written his own screenplay.
Rich Taylor, a brand new dad of a two-week old son, will teach our SAT prep course. Rich, who is venturing into the teaching world after a successful career in law, graduated from the University at Buffalo and earned his JD cum laude from the Vermont School of Law in 2004.
Three additional young men will also join the BA staff as interns, with responsibilities in the classrooms, dorms, and on the playing fields.
Tom Bishop will serve as a math teacher, as well as an assistant soccer and football coach. Tom comes from New York state, and holds a degree in Technical Theater from the University of New Hampshire.
Karl Olson will work as the Sport Information Director, as well as teach chemistry. A native of Bethel, Maine, Karl attended Wheaton College and graduated with a degree in Chemistry.
Tim Atwood, who will teach english and help with the basketball team, also grew up in Maine. Tim attended Roger Williams University, graduating with a degree in History. A special welcome to all of these accomplished professionals who are joining the BA team.

Trustee Hosts Welcome Event - BA alumnus and trustee Jack Foley '74 recently opened his home for a reception for incoming students and their families. Fifteen members of the Class of 2010 and their parents turned out for the event, getting the opportunity to meet Headmaster Grady Vigneau along with other BA faculty. A special thank you to Jack for hosting this the gathering.
BA Attends Last Year of DiGravio Golf Tournament - For many years, the family of Vic DiGravio '59 have hosted a memorial golf tournament, the proceeds of which go to the DiGravio Scholarship at Bridgton; a fund that has helped make the BA experience affordable for dozens of young men. Though the DiGravio's will no longer hold the tournament, they plan to continue the scholarship tradition, a great honor to both Bridgton Academy and more importantly to Vic, who passed away in 1999. History Runs Thick at BA - The Class of 2010 will include no fewer than seven legatee students, those who have had a relative attend Bridgton before them. This year's legatees include: Kevin Colon - brother of Wil Colon '04;
Matt Harriman - grandson of the late Jon Welch '61; Casey Helms - brother of Chris Helms '03 and Josh Helms '04; Joe Klapman - son of Mike Klapman '71; Chris Higgins - son of David Higgins '76, and brother of David Higgins IV '08; and Nick Marcella - son of faculty member Rick Marcella, brother of Mike Campbell '00.
