| New Pet Airline Launches! |
 |
|
Attention Pets! If you are sick and tired of flying in an
airplane
as cargo, you need to familiarize yourself with a new
company
called Pet Airways. This airline allows you to fly in the
MAIN
CABIN for about $250 each way (not that money has
ever been
an issue with you). Best of all, during your flight,
special
attendants will check on you every 15 minutes and
when the
fasten seat belt goes off at a comfortable cruising
altitude, you
can even make regular potty breaks. Owners can't fly
with you,
but you deserve some peace and quiet time to
yourself anyway.
Flights just began this week with service to five cities:
Los
Angeles, Denver, Chicago, New York and Washington
D.C. We
are working on a direct flight right to The Barkley so
pets
around the world can enjoy a little R&R.

| August Heat. Not your pet's best friend. |
 |
|
August is the warmest month in Cleveland and this
type of heat can lead to heat
stroke, a very common and potentially deadly hazard
for
dogs.
Dogs do not handle heat as well as humans. Dogs
depend
upon rapid breathing to exchange cool air for warm air
and
when surrounding temperatures are equal to that of
the
body this exchange becomes extremely inefficient.
Signs of
heat stroke:
· Frantic, noisy, and rapid breathing
· Bright red gums
· Thick saliva
· Vomiting or Diarrhea
· Body temperature over 104ºF.
If your dog has become a victim of heat stroke contact
your veterinarian immediately.

SINGLE FEMALE seeks male companionship,
ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES
to play.. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your
pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy
winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will
have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front
door when you get home from work, wearing only
what nature gave me. Call me and ask for Daisy, I'll
be waiting.

Matting Matters |
|
|
|
As pet owners, we oftentimes view "matting", or the
tangling of the coat, simply as an unpleasing
aesthetical issue. However, if our pets could talk, they
would remind us that matting is a very painful medical
condition where the hair is constantly pulling at the
base of the skin causing severe discomfort, infections,
sores, foul odors and more. Unfortunately, once a pet
is matted, there are very few options to repair it. As a
result, for the welfare of the pet, it is usually
recommended to remove the entire coat and allow the
hair to begin again.
The best way to prevent matting is by regularly
brushing (or grooming) your pet to constantly remove
the dead hair shed from the coat. This also ensures
proper air circulation and skin stimulation and makes
for a happier, healthier pet. The above photo shows
our staff holding the shaved coat of ONE Golden
Doodle who, due to lack of brushing and regular
grooming, became severely matted and needed a
fresh start.
