    BJ Hartmann: Licensed Canine Massotherapist
    BJ

Canine massage is the manipulation of muscles and skin to promote increased circulation to all the organs and tissues in a dog's body. Each stroke is deliberate, focused and controlled in its pressure, direction and intention. The Barkley proudly offers canine massage from nationally recognized animal massotherapist, Barbara "BJ" Hartmann. BJ is a national lecturer who has authored videos, been featured on the radio and published multiple articles in her field. She is certified and trained in Human Sports Massage, Chiropractic Assisting, Equine Acupressure Level's 1 & 2, Equine/Canine Massage & Reiki. Locally, she is best known for starting "Miracle Farm", Ohio 's first rehabilitation facility that merges traditional therapies with alternative modalities for horses, dogs and people. According to Ms. Hartmann, "Canine Massage is an essential part of a dog's health care program, alongside grooming, feeding and exercise". BJ's appointments are available daily in 15, 30 and 60 minute increments.

Pet Trusts Now Available in Ohio!
    trusts

Just like a trust that can be set up for a person, a trust can now be created for a dog or a cat so it is taken care of until it passes away.  In Ohio, it is now possible for pet owners to provide for their pets should they become incapacitated, incompetent, or die. This ensures their "best friend" is taken care of long after they are gone.    Pet trusts are flexible. Within them you can state exactly what your wishes are regarding the caregiver, food, exercise, medicine, veterinary care, treats, toys, etc.  You can even have your pet live out the rest of its life "spa-style" at The Barkley! You can create a trust in your lifetime and fund the trust with an existing asset or create the trust at your death and use life insurance to fund it.  Pet trust expert, Marc Stolarsky, can help you from beginning to end. Pet trusts are also available for purchase on his web site for $149.99.

Holy Muttrimony? Honeymoon Suite Featured on Fox
    robin

"That's Life" host Robin Swoboda believes that all newlyweds deserve a honeymoon - even if they are dogs! After featuring a doggie wedding ("muttrimony"), Robin suggests the perfect place for the honeymoon... The Barkley! While there, the canine couple can take a relaxing dip in the pool, a walk in the indoor park, relax in the spa or mingle with other couples in the Day Camp. And, of course, when the lights go down and the shimmering light of the fireplace combine with the soothing sounds of Barry White, the perfect doggie style is created.

    VACCINATION REMINDER

In the best interest of each pet guest, The Barkley's veterinary advisory board requires the Bordetella (Canine Cough) vaccination every 6 months. This vaccination should also be given and/or updated at least 10 days prior to check- in. Although 12 months is the standard for the common canine, The Barkley's #1 concern is for the health and safety of each pet inside its controlled environment.
