Volunteer of the Month

This month we would like to recognize the dedication of Joann Harms.  Joann attended a training session in December, and has been signing up for AOD as often as possible since then.  She has been a devoted advocate for LCBH and our clients, and we appreciate the initiative she has taken to thoroughly learn the law and to dive into each case she sees.  Thank you Joann for your contribution to LCBH!

Greetings!

February has drawn to a close and though it is a short month, it was a busy one.  We had a great response to our requests for AOD Volunteers and appreciate your patience with rescheduling.  The ebb and flow we experience in our case volume is not always predictable, and your flexibility has truly been invaluable.

We know that for many of you, taking cases from start to finish is a more feasible option than AOD.  In March we expect to send out more cases than we did in February, so we look forward to working with you as you tackle these matters.  As always, your energy and dedication are appreciated and help to make LCBH a reliable resource for tenants across Chicago.

Last Minute Reminder:  Hearts for Housing!
Hearts for Housing 2010 is TODAY, March 5th at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, 300 North LaSalle.  The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and is a key fundraiser for LCBH.  Tickets can still be purchased; they are available online for $30 until 2 o'clock p.m., or you can buy tickets for $35 at the door.  And of course, there are lots of great raffle prizes!  For all the details, please go here.

Training Sessions
-  Our next Volunteer Brown Bag Lunch is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10th at LCBH from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m.  Please RSVP to cewing@lcbh.org so we know how many people to expect.

- The next AOD/Eviction Defense Training session will be on Tuesday, March 16th at 1 o'clock p.m.  We are planning to host the session at LCBH, but will gladly bring the show on the road.  If you are interested in hosting, please let us know as soon as you can.  Also, if you or a colleague would like to attend, you must RSVP as space is limited.

Volunteer News & Notes
-  Please remember to sign up for AOD!  We have lots of dates still available.  Please let us know if you can assist with any of the following:  March 10th, 12th, 15th - 17th, 19th, 22nd - 24th, 26th, and 29th - 31st.

-  Our first floating happy hour was a rather quiet affair, so we will probably look to schedule the next one in April.  With spring in the air, maybe more of you will be able & willing to venture out!

-  Keep us posted!  If you have a great LCBH story to share, we can put it in the next issue of the newsletter.  And of course, we are always open to hearing your ideas/suggestions so that we keep our Pro Bono Program moving forward.

Thank you for your help this month.  We look forward to your continued support through the hours and other resources you donate.  We hope to see you at Hearts for Housing!

Sincerely,
