Dear District 1 resident,

It's finally here!  Mesa's version of spring cleaning, the 2010 Top 2 Bottom event is this Saturday, February 27. I first want to thank the 1,500 volunteers that are committed to help build a better Mesa in Districts 1, 3 and 5. We have church groups, boy scouts, girls scouts, city employees, neighborhood groups, Mayor's Youth Committee, and even a group from Tempe (undoubtedly trying to steal our great project ideas!) coming to help Build a Better Mesa.

I also would like to thank our sponsors (listed at left in this newsletter). Our project sponsors have donated money to help buy supplies, food, and T-Shirts for all of our project volunteers. Some folks have the misconception that volunteer projects are free but supplies still cost money so we couldn't do it without their generous support. I encourage you to patronize these sponsors to show our appreciation for their commitment to our community. I particularly want to thank Riverview Toyota for allowing us to stage the event kickoff in their parking lot and Riverview Wal-Mart for being our top sponsor.

For those of you who may not be part of a group doing a project, feel free to come to Riverview Toyota at 7:00 AM to kick off the event, then go to your neighborhood and find a project, spruce up the outside of your home, or help your neighbor. Let's use this event to increase pride in the great community in which we live and help Build a Better Mesa!

Sincerely,

Councilmember Dave Richins
