Dear Colleagues,

With the recent addition of Dr. Deborah Thompson on our staff, we are pleased to announce our capacity to assist the development of proposals for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR). Specifically, we are excited to assist SBIR proposals for the Technology Development for High-Throughput Functional Genomics grant. For more details, please see our feature below regarding this SBIR grant opportunity.

As you may know, the publication of this newsletter signifies that we have updated our Grant Alerts. In addition, we have also added several new sources to the Data Sources Guide found on our webpage for Tips and Guides. We hope that you successfully utilize these resources to enhance and expand your development efforts. Further, we hope that you share our newsletter, website, and resources with friends and colleagues who may also benefit - especially those that involved with Genomics.

We are providing all of this information because it is our mission to assist institutions, agencies and organizations expand fiscal resources and program operations, helping clients locate and secure grant funds matched to their interests and needs. Thank you for being a part of this mission with us, and for helping us disseminate information about our Grant Alerts, consultation services and training workshops.

We are encouraged by your active engagement with us through social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. We also hope you mark our website as a favorite on your computer, and return often to learn what's new in the grants world.

As always, thank you for your appreciation of our work!

Congress Extends SBIR/STTR Programs Through September 30, 2011

GrantProse, Inc. is prepared to help you apply for grants available for small business. The US Small Business Administration administers Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants. SBIR and STTR grants are awarded for research or research and development programs that have the potential for commercialization.

Technology Development for High-Throughput Functional Genomics

http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-11-015.html

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is requesting proposals for Technology Development for High-Throughput Function Genomics under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) granting mechanism. Specifically, the program solicits grant applications to develop new and improved technologies for the efficient, comprehensive and high-throughput identification, validation and characterization of all types of sequence-based functional elements in eukaryotic genomes. This solicitation continues a technology development effort initiated in 2003 as part of the Encyclopedia of DNA Elements (ENCODE) project.

The Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) seeks applications to develop high-throughput, genome-wide experimental methods for finding functional elements. The methods should reduce cost and/or sample size while maintaining or improving accuracy. Applications to develop high-throughput experimental methods for biological validation and characterization or computational methods to characterize functional elements will also be accepted. Novel and innovative technologies to achieve high-throughput, genome-wide identification of any type of sequence-encoded functional elements or to increase throughput of biological validation assays are sought.

New (Phase I) and Renewal (Phase II) applications will be accepted. Phase I awards normally may not exceed $100,000 over a 6 month period. Phase II awards may not exceed $1,000,000 over a 2 year period.

Additional SBIR solicitations can be seen at http://www.sbir.gov/solicitations/. Contact Dr. Bill Carruthers at GrantProse to discuss how GrantProse can assist you to apply for this or other SBIR opportunities ([email protected], 919.414.5861).
